Learning from sleeping dolphins

It turns out that dolphins apparently sleep in a peculiar way. They close one eye several hours, and then the other for a few hours. The associated brain hemisphere is unconscious in a sleeping mode while the individual eye is closed. The other hemisphere is apparently active , probably to ensure capability of sensing predators. This is amazing Do you have more to share please?

Nice info PriscaJoanne10. Thanks for sharing. But I wouldn't like to be a dolphin if they sleep like that. I want to be completely relaxed. I had some trouble sleeping before. My sleep felt like a was only half asleep and I can still hear people talking around me and even if I stayed in bed for more thatn 8 hours I still felt tired. So i'd rather be like a hibernating bear than a half asleep dolphin.

hmm... it's an amazing fact. but i feel sad about it. it feels like they can't completely lay themselves to rest. i know that's how it is for them; that it's normal for them and all. it just feels like that for me...symbolically.

Wow now i wish i was a dolphin. AT least i can get to sleep in class while keeping my eyes active at the same time also. I have known that dolphins are really delightful and fun loving creatures. Some even claim that they respond to music and they are our friends and help us in danger at times. I have seen dolphins wrestling with sharks once to rescue a man who fell into the water by accident. It seems there's always something more to dolphins than what meets the eye with them... Cheers!
