Have you ever done this?

I recently participated in a study. I was a human lab rat. Yes, I tested a pain killer that is intended for people with cancer. The last step in getting fda approaval. It was a very interesting process. A bit time consuming but did pay pretty good. Have you ever thought of doing that? Or have you ever wondered how drugs get approved? I know it's sort of scary not knowing how the drug will effect you, even heard people say that they are afraid of some strange growth or something like that.

No. Seems to make more sense to test it on cancer patience though. Doesn't it?

Yeah. It would make more sense to do that. Testing how well it does on a healthy person isn't really going to tell if it's effective on a cancer patient. Well hopefully you don't suffer any side effects from it.

To tell you the truth I wanted to take part in something like that because of the good payment, but they request people to be completely healthy, and that's not my case . I'm glad that you found it an interesting experience

I am not at all against alternative (medications). Natural remedies I think work just as good, they just might take a bit longer. A cafe that I worked at sold a product that was make of bees wax and other things from bees. One of the products was a natural antibiotic. I had an ear infection, so I took it for a few days, seemed to relieve it but not get rid of it. So I went to the doctor got a script, but I did ask him about the bees stuff, he said it does work, just takes longer. So instead of the ten day for the script I would have probably taken the the natural antibiotic for fourteen for it to work not to mention alot cheaper.

Hi, tjburcham. I have never engaged into an experiment as this. I would be very afraid to anyway. I am scared of the outcome. You are very brave to have undergone this alone. You are very brave. I know that it was very exciting and fun for you at the same time.

Thank you. I wasn't the only one in the study. Met some really nice people, we had fun in the process. The worst part was all the blood draws. I knew a few people that done this a few times and didn't seem to be none the worse for wear. I met others that do these studies regularly and seem to be fine.

That's really brave.. I never done as you did. I don't enough braveness to do that. I always think that something bad will happen with my body. That's too scary :)

I used to feel that way also. Then I decided, well, I smoke, and I started that when no one really knew how dangerous that is and I am not getting paid for it. I do things everyday that involve some sort of risk and I don't get paid for it. Plus, I needed the money.

congratulations.... i think it was very brave and noble of you to participate in a study that contributes something to humans in general.... studies like this will one day lead us to a cure for incurable cancers i believe so.... i think i'd be scared if i had to do it... but i think i'd like to participate in a similar study even for once, at least once in entire life....

It was a good experience. Kind of like staying at a hotel that you had to give blood draws. That was the worst part.

Yes, I am glad it's still a choice, it never used to be for some. (People that didn't fit into society, like prisoners) I don't know if I would do one that had a longer in house stay, I think that would get boring after awhile. I met a few people that did studies on a regular basis. I don't think I could get used to all the blood draws. Thank you for thinking it noble of me. I didn't see it that way.
