I think that it is about time that Xavi to receive what he had to be his for long. He was the key player both in 2008 and 2010 in the Spanish team, so if Cannavaro received it in 2006, just because he had a good World Cup, Xavi deserves it ten times more. He plays constantly well, he is a player who has a sharp eye on the field and provides his teammates with superb passes. Of course, he is not so spectacular player, but he is tactically and technically almost perfect. If it was after me, I would give him the Golden Ball, he deserves it because of the recent performances, and because of his career.

I think Sneijder has a great chance. After lifting the UEFA Champions League, he went on to take the Dutch to the finals though arguably Robben got the more important performances in!! Forlan also has a lot going in for him leading Athletico Madrid to the Europa League and Super Cup victories and winning the Golden Ball at the world cup. But personally I would love to see Xavi Hernandes get the award. Xavi is an under appreciated master mind. He is the orchestrator of everything that is great about this Spanish team. He pulls the threads the the rest fall in place like puppets!! I hope he gets it this time. Cheers! Ram

There is no player who has lighten up the scene during last season. If I am to pick a winner, my choice will be Lionel Messi.
