What do you see in a friend?

Since the early days of childhood we are making friendships with others. Some friendships are easy to make while others take more time and effort. When you see someone for the first time, what qualities do you see in them that make you want to be friends with them?

I am your new friend here and i added you just becoz i liked your response to my earlier discussion...so that made me add you as my friend ...very simple 
...now coming to real life friends....i never chose my friends...they talked to me...spent some days together and when they became my close friends i really don't know...i swear that i never thought that should i make friendship with this person or not...we just became good friends ..that's it

hi eshan I think you must be an outgoing cheery person and that will draw a lot of people just like me, as we so often need to know people who lift our spirits.Complaing people always d ampen my own mood.

hi sender I look for intelligence, cheerfulness, and a postive outlook as gloomy people make me feel down and most of the friends I have made are happy positive people so thats what draws me to befriend someone. If they too are shy that helps as I am a bit shy but so many times I make friends with people who I called complainers and I do not know why as thats not a quality I like at all. I am one who listens and I think that makes me fair game to ones who need someone to hear all their complaints., help help help.

A positive outlook is such a vbig part of friendship. You have very endearing qualities that you see in a friend . We all need a friend who can listen instead of just hear. Thank you for your thoughts.

I'm a shy person. People often approach me first. Sometimes I put all the courage to be friends with people. So what qualities does they have for me to make friends with them? I just go for "I feel" he/she is good/nice. I have low standards.lol. I don't want to expect much on them. I'll be nice to them, they'll be nice to me. ^_^

Being shy can have its awkward moments. Sometimes when we are shy people assume that we don't like them when just the opposite is true.

I'm not really a choosy type in picking friends. The moment that we had a conversation and we share something in common that we laugh and joke it's fine with me. But I don't like people who are boastful and so mean about the feelings of others. I like somebody considerate and most of all who respect people.

It wouldn't be that hard for anyone to befriend a person if that person is approachable and easy to get along with during your first meeting. Although we cannot judge a book by its cover, at least with that kind of attitude the person can tell that he/she is an open book, willing to welcome and embrace another chapter which is about to start through new friendship.

for me is that theyre shy i guess im very shy so theyre quiet and shy but really when you get to know each other they have a very outgoing personality
