is a symptom-complex of several disorder of brain function characterized by recurrent seizures. there may be associated changes in behavior, mentation, and motor or sensory activity. the basic problem is thought to be an electrical disturbance (dysrhythmia) in the nerve cells in one section of the brain that causes them to give off abnormal, recurrent, uncontrolled electrical discharges.
