Yesterday I attended a casual discussion on "helping the local community" The ideas mentioned focused on alternative energy concluding that: - biofuels production uses us too much water and does no good to reduction in greenhouse gases. - solar photovoltaics are still too expensive to replace common electric utility (Meralo & IPPs) - any system that needs a lot of water suffers water shortage (in the summer months?) There could be new ideas we can explore toward "helping the local community". These may or may not be related to energy... What do you think?

Alternative energy is very interesting. And it's tough because it's not highly accepted, therefore not as cheap. The only way that it would work is to educate - and that seems to be tough as well. Anyway, educating people will increase the demand -therefore will drive the cost down. I would explore Solar energy, hydro-energy and wind energy. And of course you have to think about back-up on top of all that. It's complicated, but keep researching. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

Thanks. Perhaps one of the good news is that very soon, various developments in existing and new technology for alternative energy will also drive the costs down. What do you think?
