I am Working to Make A Living. I do not Live to Work.

Tomorrow will be a non-working holiday here in our country. But my fellow drafters together with me are required to go to office to do some over time work. I am really starting to get irritated with a fellow drafter. He comes to office once a week. The workload for four people is now divided into three so we are really required to work over time. My boss was asking me if I could also work on Saturday and Sunday. Actually, he is requiring me to work this coming weekends. I told him, that I wont be able to work on the weekends. I am working to make a living, i do not live to work.. Yes I know we get extra pay from extra work, but we need to rest too. There's life outside the office. I have only one life, I would not want to leave the world exhausted because of my job.

There was a time in my life where I did not care if I did not get any time off. That I particularly liked working on weekends and after office hours because it meant I would be paid more. Although I still have the workaholic habit within me, I've also grown to realize that there are other important things in life. Make your stand! Don't work on the weekend if you don't want to. And take more out of life!

I'm sorry to hear that you are working this holiday, while I am not. That one problem with the boss, they sometimes don't have consideration to their worker.

Well, it's your prerogative if you could still work that day...Why not make an excuse to your boss? so that he/she would not pressure you to work that day...My sympathy is with you because I'm also an employee before and I feel also what you have now. yeah, its true that our life is only one and we could not take the risk just to satisfy their wants...Have a Break, Don't mind them...Anyway, They could not compel you if you would not like to work that day...
