More is Less, or Less is Enough?

Satisfaction knows no boundaries, nor does desire. But it's always been seen that desires keep changing but the satisfaction factor never changes. It's always more than it used to be. It's easy to control anger, but how can humans control their need for want? I believe this want for more is eating the human values from within us!

Hi Zee, There are two schools of thought on this. One says that the only time you are satisfied is after you die. And the other says that satisfied life is something that takes a lot of constraints and is the only way to achieve salvation. I however am not sure on any of them. I believe that if you are satisfied, you do not have anything left to do. This means that you will not create, not discover, not invent, not learn, not do anything worth. The crave to achieve is something that keeps the world going and makes people "DO". That is why you should Crave for more. But again, like many other things, there are constraints here too and you have to use your conscience to determine how far is manageable... Dont let the craze of craving overtake control of you, your thoughts and life.

zeethegr8 hi less is enough if you are always grateful for what you have and are not trying to oudo someone who may be much wealthier than yourself. happiness comes from within yourself YOu can control want by being contented with what you have, LIfe is as happy or aS sad as you are willing to make it 'and I opt for being happy now where I am with what I have.

You're right. Our satisfaction is like a boundless vacuum. It cannot be filled full by the things we reach. It always has to be something out of reach that we desire. If ever we get a hold of that, our desires for it eventually diminish and we unconsciously search for new things to desire. It's climbing an endless ladder. Although i'm not saying it's not advantageous for us. If we desire something, it keeps us inspired to reach for it. It gives us a whole lot of options and inspired ideas on how we'll get to that specific goal. We can then use that desire to get the things that we want if we want it that badly. Famous people always say that if you want it that bad, don't let go and you'll soon get it, or don't give up on your dreams.. i bet they really meant those words.

I agree! But if you're satisfied with what you have right now then you need not desire for something that you don't have. A man who is not contented can never be happy since he will always seek for something more. Learn how to be contented because the key to your happiness lies on it. How? Start by counting your blessings.
