Are you addicted to internet? Why and why not? Can you live a life or a day without having to check your mails or post comment and upload pictures in social networking sites? Will life be as wonderful without the internet?

I grew up without the internet and did not have it for a good part of my adult life and I can tell you that life would still be wonderful without the internet. I actually remember a time when I thought I would never own a home computer and had no desire to. My kids changed all that. You almost need one when you have kids in school. I got tired of running them to the library all the time and waiting so they could use the computer there for homework. I finally invested in one about 11 yrs ago. Now I am on it everyday and I love it. If I were to lose it tomorrow, I admit that it would be a bit of a difficult adjustment. I would miss it for sure but life would go on. I'd find other things to do. Might even tackle that stack of mending that has been sitting in the corner for months now.

Yes, the internet has its positives for sure. It is great for quicker research. Still it doesn't replace reading a great book. I love to read and it would never take the place of books for me.

:) No more hassle of having your nose dug into a stack of books. The internet is here to make researching much easier. With just a few strikes on the keyboard and presto, a lists of possible links for your research is right in front of you. :) :)

There was a time without the Internet in my life. I think it might be depicted on cave paintings, painted years and years ago. All kidding aside, it would be a different life. It would be something that I doubt I could even go back to. A lot of my life is connected right through the Internet. During the times where I am off the Internet, even for the brief time, I just feel disconnected from what is going on. Getting news quickly, it would be something that I would miss. Finding information online, that is great. I enjoy reading, but I never liked going through books to research something. I have been able to live days without online, because I was forced. Either the ISP was having difficulties or the power went out or something like that. Still, it was a frustrating time that I do not like to live through again.

I like the sense of humor of everyone who posted his/her comment. Thanks! Internet has connected lives and has helped lives and will continue to do so. No more smoke message from atop the mountain just to relay one's message to another tribe. No more dove carrier that might be vulnerable to hunters' shots. No more snail mail to wait for a month or more for a reply. Internet is here to open to you to different world of wonders in just a second.

Internet has become an absolute necessity for me, for my professional work as well as for personal communications. My job requires me to do market research work. Internet has become the information highway these days, and very helpful for me to do the market research work. In addtion, it is the way for communicating by emails for business and personal purposes.

Yes, internet has open the world to everyone and information can be acquired that easy. Within the comforts of your home, you can get as much information you wanted to without having to browse through the pages of so many books in the library or encyclopedias. Whew! tough job you got there greenline.

Well, life was just fine without it and we had so many more jobs available prior to internet providing services human beings used to provide! But we survived before, could again! Email is nice, but I very much miss getting letters in the mail. Things "credit" so much faster now that things are done online and electronically...good bye grace period that came in so handy sometimes! I understand libraries are being hit hard cause patronage has dropped so much... it's all on the internet now so who needs the library! Most likely more available on the internet than a library has...internet is more current. I went for about 3 days and didn't turn the PC on... thought I'd really miss it and I don't do a whole lot online...and I didn't miss it! I just spent 3 days in Las Vegas, and didn't even think about the PC. I think it is all in how you handle it. Just think about all you miss out if you are addicted to the internet! Trust me...its alot!

oh! you made me miss those snail mails i have received before from friends and looking forward to receiving another every month. going to the postal office was fun and collecting stamps had become one of my hobbies before. Hmmm, I'll try to stay away from the Net one of these days, maybe 3 days too and just enjoy life without the Net. When? I still don't know... because the nature of my job is working in front of the computer for 8 hours everday and another hours when I reach home. I guess I can do that thing you're saying if I'll go on leave from work and go somewhere where there's no internet (smiling). Looking forward to this one day. (wink).

I second demotion to what you have shared here. Look at me now, my head is aching but still I can't resist but log in and check on some mails, check my FB, check some of the sites where I do some freelancing job and check on the comments here in Mylot. Sometimes, I wish I just could have a week away from the net and just read good books and play outside. :)

I barely remember life without the internet. Even when I was little my aunt had the internet on her Apple computer. Man that was FOREVER ago! There was a lot of playing outside back then instead of sitting inside online. You definately wouldn't be able to meet and talk to as many people as you do now if there wasn't the internet!

I missed those good old days when life was that simple... playing with the kids in the neighborhood. You're right though that without internet I wouldn't be able to meet new friends from around the world and be reconnected with friends in the past.
