Why will you leave your country?

Currently, there is something like an exodus of Filipinos to other countries. Of course, the reason is obvious - to make more money, to be compensated for our skills and talents, and to help the family. There is no place like home. Nothing beats the ambience of one's own birthplace, of one's own country. But are you willing to sacrifice all the comfort for something that will make your life more comfortable? I personally do not want to leave. But sometimes conditions and situations make me think of leaving the country and working abroad. I know it is somewhat late to contemplate on this but this is the only reason I will leave the country if asked. I will not leave the country for good or for keeps, if given the chance. I had always believed it is always best to live and die in the native land. You, why will you leave your country?

As of the moment I don't have any plans of leaving a country but if ever I would be given a good opportunity why not? It really depends on my decision. But it does not mean that I will leave it to the extent of loathing the country especially as being a Filipino as what our other fellowmen are doing that.

I am currently out of the country and is living in Dubai at the moment. I followed my heart :) Though if you think about it, the reason we all live outside of the Philippines is because we experience a better life outside than in our country. From what I have seen from friends, they get to buy things they want and provide for their family at the same time but of course like what you have said, nothing beats the feeling of being in a place where everything is familiar and you know your own rules. Here in Dubai, the rules change as many times as they change their roads. Hopefully, we will be home soon... :)

hello, funkyguhl! that is good for you to be following your heart. there's nothing like it to be living and experiencing one's own country. here's hoping you will be returning back soon. but i am not forcing you to do that ha ha

Hello bingskee, I am not going anywhere. I have been denied twice of US VISA because of my dad went TNT there. but am fine with it. frankly, i'd rather die here on our own land than die on another country. people had to be practical and think about SURVIVAL of their family over patriotism that's why they had to leave. if the situation in our country is better then they wouldn't leave. this new generation isn't so lucky enough to have a reason to appreciate our land. one day, things will get better.

well, let's just hope that things will be better for our dear country, letranknight. it is true that people leave because of the situation here but there is always hope, as the old adage says. have a question for you - if by chance you were not denied your US Visa, will you go to the US for survival? or stay here because you are patriotic? :-D

I want to be Patriotic but i don't know where to start. probably if i did successfully went into the US, there's a chance that i might turn TNT too. or get depressed and go home instead. because if i did then i wouldn't be in mylot today

If you live in a country, or a city that is so polluted that your kids are at the doctors every month for asthma attacks or other pulmonary problems you'd want to get out. If you're tired of sleepless nights as you make sure your baby get through the night, you'd find every opportunity to move someplace else where healthcare is excellent, the environment is a lot healthier, and your kids might get a chance of a normal life.

those are very good reasons to consider why i should move to another place. even to myself, i often get sick because of unpredictable weather changes in my country. and i appreciate where i am now that i am not getting sick often. thank God because i have to work. but i still need to be with my family of course. thanks for reminding me those pointers. take care.

nice points. but one can also choose to find a place in his or her own country where pollution is not rampant. it is just a matter of choice. i doubt if there is a country where it is totally polluted and no clean place to go to.

My boyfriend and I both live here all our lives and for the first time we have mutually agreed if things persist as they do perhaps we need to re-think as neither are getting younger and life is getting tougher. So have decided that perhaps the idea of leaving our hometown and starting a new somewhere else may not be such a bad idea. We sort of have a time frame in mind and discuss it more as time has gone by. I can't imagine leaving a place I have lived at for all my entire life but if a probability of improvement arises, I suppose I won't love it but I could learn to just like it.

do you mind sharing where you are currently based right now? i think situations and conditions are primary factors why citizens leave or migrate. here's wishing that your plans will succeed!

I will leave my country because there a lot of opportunities in other countries. Better jobs and opportunities. Yes, you're right on what you said, "There is no place like home". But what if in your home you're family is dying out of hunger. Are you not going to leave your country?

Well, I might have to leave my country (the US) one of these days to go to Canada because that is the fatherland for me. My father is from Canada, and I want to go up there to see where he came from and to see his people. I love Canada, and I have even been teaching myself how to sing the Canadian National Anthem and I have been teaching myself things about the country.

for work and the pure pleasure of travelling and knowing other places and their people and culture, yes. but for permanent residence or retirement, i'd choose to return to my own country.nothing beats being in your own home.

i was oriented to work. and i have worked in our country for some time but i am spending more than what i could earn. now that i am outside our country, unfortunately i'm having the same experience. so i thought that leaving the country for money is not actually satisfying to all. count that depending on the country to go to. but still, when one earns more, he starts to want more and spend even worse. i left because i only wanted to renovate our house. i hope it will come true. thanks bingskee. i don't know what i felt but i couldn't say no to your discussion. i have to react. really, thanks.

i hope it will come true, too, chiumee. what is important is you have that conviction that you are spending more than what you should be spending. realizing that, you can start from that realization and learn to control the spending. thank you for taking time to share your thoughts. come visit again.

People want to work abroad to share their knowledge. There are many reasons why people leave the country or go abroad. Today everyone's lifestyle has changed completely. People had more modernized. They settle down in other country in order to lead a peaceful and a wealthy life. Nowadays people want to learn more. Even parents want to nurture their children to see the world in an open mind.

valid reasons, pogi253, but i have to say that a wealthy life is not always a peaceful life. the country is experiencing braindrain because of lack or poverty which is the most common reason.

I really wanted to help my family financially. That's the reason why I wanted to go and work abroad. I still have 4 siblings in college and it is very hard for my parents to handle all the finances. It has been also my dream to see the world. I wanna travel the world, see what it gives to me. I feel like it is good sometimes that you are far away from your comfort zone because you will grow and mature as a person.
@bingskee (5234)

Why would you leave your country if you have so much things to be proud of? And finding a job isn't hard nowadays. But if you really need it, why not accept the previlage. Actully, you won't be gone for so long. But leaving you country and everyone you love inside it is really a burden, so for me, better not to leave your country. (wrong grammar)

Leaving the country in order to find a better chance of work is not always the first choice of every Filipinos. We know that it is very hard to be away from your family and being alone in another country. But the case here is, OFWs are put into situation and leaving with no choice but to work out of the country because of Lack of availability of jobs, Less compensation, and the Government cares less. I am a licensed nurse and if given the opportunity to leave the country for work or to migrate in order to have a greener pasture, then I will.

and i respect that. we all have our choices. i would also give it a try if given a chance to work in another country. who would not go for a better pay? but as i said, i will be going back to my country to retire and enjoy the last days of my life.

I would like to leave my country to explore places and find myself. Personally, I am homebody and nothing scares me except going somewhere without an idea of actually going and doing something there. I would like to see the world with my own two eyes and feel what is like to a stranger in a stranger's land. Also, to humor my sense of adventure I like to get lost in the future - to abandon the right, straightway path and choose something different from what's happening now in my life.

Well it all depends on the compensation I get.The world has become smaller and we live in a global village.Frontiers and borders are broken and people travel and migrate a lot to earn their bread. It is the right thing to do if one gets his satisfaction in job and pay abroad. I am saying all these sat the comfort of my home in my home country.I think that I am lucky and blessed to have the comfort of homeland and earning.

If I will be asked with this question, my straightforward answer would be NO! I have never dreamed of leaving this country and living in other countries for good. I love my country and I will die in here. I know, in my place there are a lot of things going on, poverty, corruption, hostility and a lot more. But who will stay and help them If I will just place myself above others. Other think that going to other countries help make them rich but I totally disagree. If you are hardworking and dedicated, I know you can achieve what you hoped for. It is a matter of self-desire, looking at different perspective. But I don't condemn people who wants to leave the country, I even give them my respect since it's tough for them working in a different culture and adjusting, but I would rather stay and tell the next generation that life would be much better, greater and all of us would stay here and help one another. We have a lot of resources and if we utilize them, we can do greater and mighty things. If I happen to be invited to another country, I would go since it's an invitation but I won't stay long, only for a short vacation as an ambassador telling people to visit my homeland.

I want to go to Mexico to visit my husbands family one day and I can not wait!! Just for now I just think it is too dangerous over there and I think it is so sad. I am a little scared of what will happen if we go and we keep waiting for it to get better to go but it just seems like things over there are not changing fro the better.

You're right, we leave our country for make and earn more money and help our families. I do have plans in going abroad to work because i really don't see any good future for me if i stay in our country. It's just that there are so many nurses here already and no hospital would want us to work with pay with them. I know it's hard to go to a place where everything is alien to you plus the love and presence of the people you love that you will leave will surely be factor for you not to leave the country. Plus the money involved if you go abroad, airfare and pocket money for you to be able to survive to that certain place before you get your first pay. So right now, im still weighing things..

i have been hearing things that hospitals here in the Philippines would not pay anything or enough for the services of new nurses. i was truly shocked. how could one work without pay? some of these hospitals even bargain the experience to those who will be going abroad and you have to pay them!

Well, in some cases people just live their countries for getting some money to suppert their families, but this just happened on poor countries like cuba or some countries in the pacific that wants to upgrade their live support. People dont want to live their conutries but they do it for need
