I try really hard to live a green lifestyle... I try to buy most of my foods without extra packaging or with biodegradable packaging. I return my bottles (yay for living in a place you can return bottles) and I recycle when I can. My family has a garden and we compost but I really wan't to know what other things people do that aren't a drastic change to lifestyles.

In the city where I live, there is only a maximum of one garbage bin per week but you can have as many full recycling boxes or green carts. This was implemented because a few months ago, our city was having a hard time finding a landfill, then this rule was born. Helps reduce our waste. Before, some people with larger families were complaining because they couldn't fit all their garbage into a single bin, yet after a while, they realized if they recycled and used the green cart more often, they didn't have any troubles at all.

I have never heard of a green cart. What is that?

Recycle can, bottles and glass, and here in the state of California, you get money for each and every can, plastic bottle and glass bottle that you turn in. I strongly recommend that people recycle their cans and bottles.

In maine we get money for drink bottles but we have to recycle anything that food comes in... Glass usually gets reused rather than recycled in our house... I take spaghetti sauce jars to the food share and get my favorites in them.
