I have Lost my Talent in "Drawing"

Philippines
September 18, 2010 8:06am CST
Hello Lotters, It's something i need to let out too. i used to be good in drawing when i was a kid.draw a lot of stuff for my friends, my moms students and for myself. but as time grew my talent diminishes, i saw help in architecture since my first successful floor plan and landscape of a house (including it's electricity). but then again, i devolved. sometimes i feel i regret choosing this course, but some how it was the easiest. but still, when ever my mom, nephews and niece asked me to do something related to drawing, I'd do it. am still useful though I think am still the only one talented to drawing but i see potental on my other nephew. i hope excells to it, so that i can retire.

Yes....even though I'm not happy. I'm just doing this for my mom but she has seen me during my saddest moments because of where i am now. Anyway, I'm trying to be happy with other things...I don't want to die young.

hi letran I really do not think once talented in drawing you have actually have lost it. More likely you have a drawers' block,. just like writer's block. the only cure is to start back up again doing small things until the muse returns to you.I always wished I had a talent in drawing but no such luck. I can write but drawing,no talent at all.It is lovely to see your nephew having drawing potential.

Hello Hatley, Drawers block? then, it's probably a lot worse. most specially since i haven't drawn in years. some how i need to get this talent to my full potential again. i am not sure when to start or how to bring back the passion that i have long lost. probably some day i would.

I think that this is the same as with anything! If you don't keep up the practice then you will eventually lost the skill or you will end up being out of tune. I used to draw myself and I really enjoyed the process. I used to take my drawing materials to a local park and I would just sit there trying to draw different trees. It was nice and I was taking in the fresh air and surroundings. I probably love reading now as much as you love drawing and I tend to devote my time to this activity. I think that if drawing gives you pleasure then you should continue with it. It's nice if you can build up some kind of collection as you will gain a great sense of achievement in that I'm sure. Hello Andrew, There was one specific thing that i did when i was a kid. I used to draw robotic figures from the comic books and then cut them into pieces. keep them as if it was a toy. i was so addict for robots then, but because i couldn't buy them and they're expensive, i turned into papers. And a few years ago. i had this passion for a specific robot. when i bought it for collection I didn't transformed the way it was in the description. you know what i did, i used my imagination and money to make it work..glues,paint and other stuff. it didn't last long.

Well Friend I also Do Believe the same here.I also had been recognized one of the Good and Better Artist in Drawing Few Years Before.I made many such Drawings thats almost seems like to have a life in it.But Just with the Time Passes my Family and my friends Demotivated me by Concentrating more with the Studies through which my Carrier will develope. This effect me Badly and I started losing Interest from the Art of Drawing and Now its very Difficult for me even to Thought for such Creativeness.I Still Believe I had that talent and can Still come back in this type of Talent.I Think I need to be Fair to myself by giving myself Time with Beautiful Nature which will Encourage me to Start one more Time The Art of Drawing with much more Creativeness and Life in it.

Hello sahil, That's a very sad thing to families. if they don't understand the kind of talent you have, how can they be sure, you're going to have a good future? it's hard to be one of the best artist of the year. you know, we are everywhere, trouble is that like you, others are discourage.

I think you're just rusty. I believe that it's impossible to lose talent, cause it's something you're born with. It's just that your talent either weakens or gets stronger. If you haven't drawn for a while, it's natural for your talent to diminish a bit. Just practice and try to draw frequently, you'll see that it's still there.

Hello Jet2rocks, Yes, it is possible. But, you know it can still work if i go for practice, but i don't have the passion now. i admit, am not getting any younger, but some how my mind tells me to try and try it again. possibly i would try in one of these days, just not sure what to do with the drawing afterwards.

I suggest that keep on moving. You have talent in drawing then try to rediscover it by using modern technology. There are softwares for drawing and architectures. You can download Blender3d and GIMP for free.

I love to sing a lot in the karaoke, but not good enough to be a singer at the bar. sometimes, we can really refine our talent in some other ways. and it' doesn't have to be in a professional way.

Hello Jean25, I believe there is nothing wrong with being a part timer in a bar since you're good with kareoke. well, you have a point there too, some talents are even that popular but they are popular into skill that was trained to them. so far, i don't even have that skill yet. i wish i could think of one.

Maybe you just need enough time to practice and recapture your passion in drawing, I think talent never lost, it only needs enough time to be enthusiastic again. Just take your time in reviving the magic of your talent, it will just restore without forcing yourself, just be patient.

Hello Jlamela, I don't know. what's to practice anyways? sometimes, i draw if it's needed. as for passion, I did it in regards to a sims 2 game. but when my Operating system changes, that's when my passion stop. if i did continue it, then i could have done mylot the movie.

i don't have talent to do much except cleaning. but a friend of mine had this karaoke singing group that she sings. she kept asking me to try but refused. one day, i was drunk and decided to sing, they were all surprised that i went with the tune, since then am always asked to sing on the first round.

I think in my response, every has a state of being artistic in their youth. it's just that things change as time passes, some go through another line of art. but most tend to do other things and not just drawing. but it you have maintain you're skill, if not, how can you not refuse them. it's still a good talent, don't stop it.

Hello GreedyMoney, You're right. my nephew and Niece's parent's aren't that much around every day. so, when ever there's an assignment that leds to drawing, am in charge. there's no problem with it, probably i would do this to them as long as they need me. well, am not stopping it, even though it's not that good, as long as it is needed.

Hello Rebelotter, well, that is true as well. my brothers are intelligent among other things. but when it comes to drawing, they always lend it over to me. i am not sure why but they do it all the time. i don't mind, i just wished they could have taught me or i could taken seriously about their math or science subjects.

Architecture? So at least you have knowledge in drafting. Are you using any software as well like autocadd? We actually have that subject and of course I don't like drafting. I am actually frustrated in-betweener artist of 2d traditional. Especially in making head turns. I don't really like 2 dimensional or manual drawing. I am just enjoying it on computer.

Hello Metatronik, No, i never went that far really. well, if i was trained more into that maybe i could have done something about it. but that was first year highschool and that was it. i never got into the thing you mentioned to me in your second sentence, i did drawing in microsoft art when i was in grade 6 but that's it.

I learned to draw when I was small but I didn't have much love for it so I gave it up. But now I realize that I love drawing, I want to be a designer, unfortunately I think now is too late too start learning again, too old for that.

Hello handy, I want to be a 3d maker for movies but it seems theres a lot for it now, and not much job available in this kind of career. I missed my passion but i don't know when and how i can bring it up, most specially at a times where they were others who are better than me. i just do it when ever they asked me but i can't give what is being display in the galleries.

I don't think that's an excuse for not your best. some people tend to extend and do better in other skills than just plain drawings. remember that friend i told you who rans a gallery? he lost his business and went into other things instead, but it's still art. he's lost tremendous a lot of money, if he wasn't rich, he'd end up in the streets.you made the right choice, you just did not know how to utilize them.

Hello Mikaela, Well, that is very encouragin of you there. but drawing had been most part of me since the beginning. all change when i went into highschool, or college when i found people that are better than me when it comes to drawing. i have tried to utilize them in the past but it didn't work out.

Hello Doormouse, Wow, i don't think you're talent hasn't disappeared at all. you can still copy stuff and that is still considered art, maybe not original but you can still do it.unfortunately, it is rare that i can do portrait but never in my entire life that it was put on gallery.
