Is better and worse just opinions?

If someone uses the term better or worse does that mean they state their opinion? Can you or anyone else prove that anything is better or worse without using emotions?

It is better that one doesn't get theirs fingers cut off. No emotions. Simply your capabilities would be worse.

You realize that someone can function properly without fingers. If you lose your fingers then you will lose the ability to do many tasks. Without any emotions involved how is that worse?
