My husband has a visiting nurse who comes to his office this time of the year. We are getting the flu shot the end of this month. I've been doing this for the last few years and never had a bad reaction. The shot has kept me from being really sick in the winter here so I make sure to get one each year.

My dr. told me the flu shot can't cause the flu. He said it's a coincidence if someone gets the flu after the shot. I know I've never had any issues with it. I feel safer with it in my system.

I have been seeing nurses at Walmart everyday and then commercials saying Walgreens have them as well. Although I've never had the flu shot myself, I know a lot of people that need them. My mother, who has never had the flu, is made by her doctor every year to get it even though she doesn't want it. But she does it to keep him off her back, even though it makes her sick when she does get it. They tried to get everyone last year at the schools to have their children get the H1N1 shot and I refused to have my children get it, later they had a recall of it because it was making children in our area sick. It almost killed one boy.

My sons aswell as myself have health problems,so that is why we have been given it every year.I hope that one day every person will be offered it,as i think this would help alot of other people in the winter months.

I've had mine against the H1N1 a few months back. It seems effective enough. I don't have flu that often now which I normally would at the slightest sneeze by people around. And my family is safe too because one sneeze is enough to spread it at home.

Prevention is alot easier than trying to get a cure.I wish that there was a way that everyone could be given the jab,as i feel like there are alot of people that are ill with this problem, due to not getting the jab from their drs.

Glad you mention that. Prevention is better than cure. Agree totally. And that more people should be vaccinated.

I am getting mine in October because that is when I have been told to get it. i am working at Long Beach Comic Con at the end of October, so I think that that would be the best time to get it.

Yeah, I don't need an appointment for my shot, I just walk in anytime and they will give it to me. Thank goodness for insurance.

I have to have mine aswell, lol,so i will get mine when i see my dr,rather than having to que.I do not mind the flu jab,i hate blood tests.I would not be able to manage the two boys with me,at the same time as me having mine.It is one of those things that i have to have and i have tried to explain to my sons why they have to have their jabs aswell.

I never got any of those. I make sure I have lots of "airborne" so I can take some whenever I think Im starting a cold and it works for me and hubby. None of my family gets those flu vaccines and we've all noticed that everybody who gets them are sick more than once during the winter. I have nothing against those who get them and I would never try to prevent anyone from getting them is they want to........its just not for me though.......and Im afraid of needles so LOL

I feel the same way as you. But something I've known since I was young(my dad studied medicine and was a EMT) and Doctors are now saying is that people use the antibacterial stuff to much. Our bodies have to build up an immune to these germs or we end up severely sick in the end. Now I'm not saying the flu of course, I'm just talking about things in general. The schools sent home lists saying they need all this stuff to clean the desks with and for kids to wash their hands with. We were healthier as children growing up then the children are now. Of course my kids will get upset stomachs but they are old enough for me to give them a ginger pill and are fine. And you talking about scared of needles. My daughter is almost 16yr old, and is way taller than I so if they ever have to take her blood it's like wrestling a bear. She hasn't had to have a shot or anything in years, so I thank God on that one.

You're right, the more we try to keep everyone clear of bacteria, the less their immune system can learn how to fight. As for antibiotics, so many people take way too much for nothing and then they wonder why its not working anymore. I cant count on the fingers of one hand how many times I was prescribed antibiotics....so much so that Im afraid I might have a bad reaction if I were to take some now because they're much stronger. Im sorry about your daughter being afraid....I thought it would go away with age but it doesnt. Im even MORE afraid now and Im no spring chicken lol. Dont try to force her or overpower her....when we're afraid of something, we need to be able to "trust" someone. Talking to her might help.......I hope. Good Luck!!

lol =D Flu jabs again?? ALot of ple seems to be takign flu jabs nowadays huh?? Some of my friends are getting their flu jabs more regularly now. Is flu really that scary?? I dun believe in jabs at all. The only jabs i have taken so far, are those compulsory ones, such as against hepatatis B. Other than that, i'm not into those usual jabs. I guess that's what makes my body stronger, because i had not fallen ill for almost 3 years now.. haha

And now it is 12 months later so it is that time again. I had my shot last year in December and so I will be having one again this year in December. I get mine every year when I go for my physical check up. It used to cost money, up to about 4 years ago, but now they give it for free. When we had to pay for it, I think it was around $25.00, I only got one every two years but now that it is free I get it every year. In one of your other responses someone says you can get the flu from the shot and then someone else says that's not possible. I have asked several times when getting my shot...my doctor and before I worked for Home Care and got it from then and asked the nurse who gave it to me... about that same subject and I have been told every time I asked someone...that yes you can get the flu from the shot because what the flu shot is...is a strain of 4 different types of flues that they are putting in you so you can get symptoms but they wouldn't last very long, a day or two. I think it is worth getting as I haven't had a flu since I have been getting the shot which is about 10 years now. I am so happy to not get the flu...... Cheers my friend, Chris

Yep its flu shot time again, I just went to see my doctor last week, I'm surprised they didn't ask me if I wanted it, maybe their not doing them yet. Remember to get the H1N1 shot too if they offer it, because the flu shot doesn't work on the H1N1 flu very much. I got the H1N1 flu last year, but because I had gotten the flu shot, I didn't get it as bad as others did. The doctor told me that there is a separate vaccine for it, even tho I didn't get the right one, it did help me a little.

Oh yes i will have what ever shots they think i need,so will my sons,as i think that prevention is easier than a cure,I have only just got the letters to say when we can all have the injections.I would like to think that everyone was offered these jabs,as that way there would be alot less people ill each year.

I did have one this winter because the last time both my daughter and I had one she became quite ill and the doctor told us she had an allergic reaction to the injection. Watching my little one so sick put me off flu vaccines forever! Having said that it is wise to remember that not everyone reacts the same way!

They are giving them to us at work next month. I get them everytime. I have not caught the flu but I am a little concerned about this vaccine. I am wondering if it is the swine flu vaccine included.

I lucked out this year. My clinic had just gotten a shipment of flu shots in the very day I went in to get a prescription for antibiotics for my abcessed tooth. My daughter and grandson will get there's as soon as their clinic has the shots come in. My grandson had the nostril type last year and didn't even remember having had it.

It's to early for us, our flu season usually comes in Feb. so we wait until late Nov. or even early Dec to get our shots.

I was suprised when I realized it was time to get a shot again! It seems like I just got one. I will have to call my doctor and see if they have them in yet. He usually likes me to be in the first round of high risk people. I don't have resperatory problems, but he still wants me to be in the first round. I didn't realize they gave them in other countries. I guess other countries are more like us (US) than I thought.

Hi jugs, I do not choose to have a flu injection, I prefer to let my body manufacture my own antibodies. If I have to get sick, I will not avoid it. But I will choose to build up my immunity in the first place.

I have to get a flu shot too. I wonder if they will have special shots this year like they did last year. Hopefully we will only have to get one shot this time. I hate shots. I always feel crummy the day that I get the shot done but I am a heart patient and I have asthma so I am very high risk.

I wont take a flu vaccine or any kind of vaccine if possible. I want my body and health to be at its natural best. Let it deal with those viruses on its own. I don't like my body to depend too much on vaccines to the extend of not being able to fight on their own. Taking vaccine jabs is a preventive measure to things, but i prefer the natural way.
