I fell asleep and didn't do something I was supposed to do at 9PM last night,

ever do that? I was supposed to call someone's teengers and make sure they were home on time and not having any wild parties. I've had this job before and I didn't forget, but they had me call at 8:30 or 8:45. Now I feel badly because I didn't wake up until 6:30AM. I called and woke them up. I don't feel badly about waking them up, but about not calling. Makes me wonder if they would have called me if something was wrong. If someone was supposed to call you at a certain time, would you call them instead. I'm so mad at myself, I could spit. I will be sending back some of the $ they sent me,but that's not the point, I dropped the ball. I'm beating myself up about it, but I was here for them to call if they had any problems. If they weren't home on time, I don't know where I'd go looking anyway (luckily they don't know that). They are excellent young people and when told to be home by 8:30, they generally are. But I know when I was young, I went places, had problems and things can happen nowadays. Nothing I can do about it now, but it makes me so mad at myself. Wish I could turn back time. I should have called at 8:30 ro 8:45 like I did last time the parents went away.

Don't feel bad writer, I did this recently. I dog sit for a neighbor occasionally and the last time I dog sat was the first couple days of school. I would go over in the morning at 9, but the first day, I am sitting there doing my work when I saw it was almost 10:30 AM... The poor dog has been waiting to go out for an hour and a half..Thankfully she was able to hold it, but I felt really bad..

Well at least you remembered. If I was supposed to take a dog out to the bathroom at 9PM and fell asleep until 6:30AM the next day, either the dog would be in distress or the floor would be a mess.

You know what, this dog has the biggest bladder ever. The year Hurricane Ike went through Texas and Ohio got the remnants, knocking our power out for 4 days? My daughter was living here at the time and she was the dog sitter. When this storm hit, fortunately the owner was only 3 hours away and not across country because the way she gets in is electronically. The poor dog was let out in the morning, but by afternoon, we had no electricity and I didn't realize it was going to be like that for days. So we didn't call until evening and they didn't get home until 9 or 10 that night. So the dog went all day, the owner said she didn't make a mess anywhere..

Thanks for the BR writer. You know since I "confessed" here, I haven't forgotten to let the neighbors dog out, well at least I wasn't more than 10 minutes late and that was only because I was in the middle of a quiz...

I haven't done that but recently when I was on antibiotics I would forget to take them. I hate that! I would definitely call as soon as I was able to. I would feel bad but realize I am human and make mistakes or fall asleep. It happens. I wouldn't beat myself up too bad about it.

Yeah, but it turns out one of the kids didn't come home that night, she was at a friend's so it wasn't a big deal, but what if she wasn't?

Yeah, there is that. Maybe in the future I would set an alarm just incase. We all need a backup plan.

I certainly have at one time or another, fell asleep when I should have been doing something else. You were only being human. Everybody makes mistakes from time to time. I wouldn't beat myself up about it. All you can do is be honest with the parents and apologize, I 'm sure they will understand.
