The trend nowadays is to earn money by providing a service to computer users. An example is to teach users on how to maintain a computer. The fast advance in computer technology making yesterday's component obsolete today, coupled with an overall decrease in prices of new items, make a computer repair job less lucrative than it used to be. As a art time computer technician I have always recommended consumers to buy a new set rather than upgrading. The main difficulty is in getting spare parts for older hardware. As a comparison an old RAM costs more than a brand new RAM. Another reason is because many technicians used to overcharge customers. This has led to a general distrust of computer technicians. As a result many users started educating themselves on issues related to computers. The only way to make lots of money as a computer technician is by securing a government contract.

I'm sure, with big demand in technology, and most household now are using computers and alike, there is a future in repairing computers. Some prefer to buy recondition, specially those who have small budget, so you should add to your business buying defective gadget, then repair it, and resell it with high margin profit.

Yeah, and in my country it is such a big business! Computers and laptops are truly not as expensive as before, but with that said many people bought it and eventually broke it. Plus, in an area where the people are not so technologically advanced (in their way of thinking), it will be nice to repair their computers because almost all of them know nothing about it.

Hi there ! That is a good question. It depends on your locality. Nowadays more and more people are well acquainted with computers that they are able to repair it themselves and also the chances of such a need for repair is getting reduced due to the better quality of hardware. But, if you live in a locality were people do not find time to repair their computers themselves, then you have a fair chance. Cheers :)

If you love your com, lap or note you should repair it, if not, buy new one. In fact, technology always is upgraded. This year you have the newest technology but next year your computer is dateless.

But the thing is...there are 1000's of Computer related online tutorials, blogs, authoritative website articles (e.g. Microsoft), and forums, etc which anyone can learn if they have the time. I'm sure many have learnt from online, thus not requiring a pc technician at times. Might mean then, a technician has to have a "point of difference" and other means (e.g. partcipating actively in forums, reselling trusted products, authoritative/trusted referrals, etc) to make/increase money...

Sorry friends I have response for another discussion. I think you can make money from repairing computers. Because where I lived here computer engineer take 300 rupess only for format a computer. And sometimes if problem relates to computer like laptop then their fix charge is 500 rupess only for checking these problems are in a laptop. And other additional charges are not included in this. You should give additional charges after solution of problem. So I think there is good money in computer repairing works.
