Show me the Money ....

Recently a spate of resignations have afflicted my company and I am not really sure why. And this is just before the usual bonus period at the end of the year. Rumours have it that many of the staff have left due to expectation of much higher pay in their new place of work and some unhappiness at work in the current place. What are some of the considerations for you to part company with your company!! Is it only dollar and sense. Would other non-monetary considerations feature greatly in your decision? Your views please.

I am retired now so no more hassles with wages etc etc. I was unlucky enougth to be working for the county system when our county here in Southern California went bankrupt. so of course those of us who worked for the library system all got thier hours cut, got to take money from the little guys first not the county dads with their inflated salaries, and so part time was really parttime.nOw days most people who have a job are damned well hanging onto it here in California as the unemployment rate has skyrocketed and a lot of companies are still laying off employees in an effort to cut costs plus a lot ot them are outsourcing their work thus depriving our own citizens of jobs as they do not have to pay hardly anything to those who work in foreign places. here in the US we have not had a cost of living increase in our social security checks now in two years and doubt if 1011 will be any better.

hi Hatley - seems like the bottomline is money driven and for the US in recent years, jobs have become harder to come by. More so for the older folks. The adage "save for a rainy day" is so true in these times. Take care.
