I support it but I would like to know why other people wouldn't.

I support it fully. Religious people have issues with it because they feel like it is wrong for whatever reason. I think it's ridicolous really, but there are extremist views on all subjects and I guess it has to be accepted, people will believe what they will.

I'm a huge supported of stem cell research. There are so many illnesses out there for which this seems to be the only hope. I had a big scare a month ago, when my god-daughter was suspected of brain paralysis. In that case, stem cell treatment would have been her best hope for a relative recovery. Fortunately, it was a misdiagnoses, but it opened my eyes about how many children and adults are there with this problem, and how much stem cell treatment could improve their lives. I know research methods are controversial now, but I'm sure that, given enough time, scientists will find a way to collect cells in less disturbing ways.

I think it will eventually be the biggest benefit for our health (and survival) since penicillin.
