A pleasant day to you Fellow Mylotter, I am thinking if it is a normal thing to yawn whenever you saw a person who also yawning. I just noticed this very often. Like if I yawn, my friend also yawn and vice versa. If ever I yawn, my friend will also yawn unnoticeably. Hence, there are times, I am thinking if this is just a coincidence or just happen by chance. How about you, do you also feel yawning if you saw it from other person? Is it a coincidence?

Hi, Yes... I do noticed that I will yawn when I saw other people's yawn. I am not sure why,but I am really curious to know why. I have noticed about it since long time ago. Sometimes, when I saw my husband or my son yawned, then few minutes later, I will yawn too automatically. I just can't control it when I feel like to yawn.

I don't know what it is about yawns, but almost every time I see someone yawn, I feel the need to yawn as well. With me its even worse, because I even feel the need to yawn when I see someone on television yawn, or even funnier..... when I'm on the phone and hear someone yawn. I don't think its a coincedence, I think it has something to do with our brains

I do think that when we see people yawn then we do tend to follow suit and end up yawning aswell. It is rather catching aswell as i have found in the past that when there is one person at a table yawning then other people tend to follow and then after that people tend to feel really, really tired.

In older days during the royalty period, when the prince, king or any in the royal family yawn the court men yawn too. This makes them feel to be part of the royal. Or to show fellowship with them.

I yawn whether or not other people are yawning, and most of it is because I am tired or because of my ear, it always feels like there is air stuck in my ear, you know kind of like "swimmer's ear".

I do. They tell me yawning contagious and I believe it. Also I see it when teaching. If one kid yawns, another almost always will right after him. I would be mad seeing it, but after 10 hours of classes, I can't really blame them for yawning once.

No I never f eel yawning to seeing after a person yawning. But sometimes I feel yawning when I get bored. Or I watch any boring movies. Then I can feel yawning. Because I think yawning comes after boring. So if you always make you busy in works then you may feel very less yawning.

I haven't experienced that but I think yawning when someone yawns is just a coincidence. I think you both are just sleepy at the same time. LOL

I think it's scientifically proven than when people see someone yawning they feel like it too. I remember watching a special on the subject that they experimented with lots of people of all ages, sexes and backgrounds and found out it really happens. I don't remember the explanation though.

I think there it is not just coincidence. I watched/ read something about it that our brains have neuro-transmitter that sends signal to our brain and those neuro-transmitter connects with the brain wave of the person that pays or accidentally pays attention to your yawning.

yes, it is a proven phenomenon. But, how come we don't yawn when we see an animal yawn or when someone on TV yawns?

I don't feel like yawning whenever someone yawns. Actually, i feel like kicking him in the face when someone yawns. I don't know why.

I have no absolute clue why this feeling is so contagious. I do remember reading somewhere that it is a scientific fact that as soon as someone does the people next to them will likely do the same.
