They say that among the nations, Philippines is left behind when in comes to education. Is adding two years in high school the answer to this problem? As a parent, I do not believe that this will help improve the situation in our public schools. For me, the best way to achieve the best education is to provide the budget that is suppose to be for the Department of Education in improving the facilities, teacher's wage (especially for those dedicated teachers) so they will not think that they need to work abroad to sustain their family, and most of all, provide the students the books that they need for them to be able to study and experience the true meaning of being a good student. So how about you? Do you think this is a good idea?

Hello welcome to mylot I am aware of the scene in your country, I was in Cebu, Manila and Davao for some time. The salary of the teachers there is low in my opinion. Here in India we follow the 10 plus 2 plus 3 system, means 10 years scholl, 2 years pre college and three years college; in some schools the +2 is included, in some colleges the +2 is still there, but it did not serve any positive purpose.. Thank you so much for this nice discussion and sharing your opinion. HAPPY DIWALI Professor. . Cheers God bless you.

No,I really hope they think twice before making rash decisions.. 2 more years of education will bring more problems to all of us. More money, more, rooms, more time and effort.. I think you are right about the budget. No matter how long the kids stay in school, it doesn't matter if the quality of education and facilities don't become better.

I think it should be the opposite. I am part of the educative community and I think the comprehension and the ability of a student are dwindling as the number of subjects or lessons and years are added. I mean, just imagine if you have a lot of distractions and you have to finish a lot of homework everyday. Not to mention that your parents keep on fighting about money and the financial constraints are put upon your shoulder. It's quite difficult to be a student these days. I think what matters most is the quality of the output instead of the quantity of the input. The more we talk about in classes, the more information forgotten by the student. I think we need more practice or practicality instead of too many theories. It is in the application that matters really, not the concepts. Concepts can be read in any book or online, but the application or experience could only be lived. I am not pro addition of another 2 years. I say go back to the basics and help kids achieve their potentials by bombarding them with activities that really matter and would help them find an employment and help better their lives. Find solutions to keep families from being apart and find means and ways for finances in the country to stabilize. We do not need more students. We need more earners. The faster they could earn, the better for their families.
