CSI Season 11 Episode 2 "Pool Shark"

Is it just me or did the episode feel like an episode of CSI Miami? Maybe it’s the partying beside the swimming pool. I guess I am not used to seeing a body of water in Las Vegas. The case this time revolves around a shark that was released into a pool where a lot of people were partying. They didn’t notice the shark until it bits off a woman’s arm. Ouch. As the case progressed, they realized that the woman’s death was not by the shark’s hands. Or rather fins. Or bite. The woman was already dead when the shark bit her. So it turned out to be 2 cases. On a much lighter note (depending on your point of view I guess), Wendy says goodbye to Hodges. Awww. I liked their characters, I thought they were cute. But I did read last week about the news that the actress who plays Wendy will not be coming back to the show as a regular. Boo! I don’t want to sound shallow, but we don’t have any more eye-candy! Hmmm… come to think of it… wasn’t there a blonde woman in season 9 that we never saw again? I don’t think this show likes young beautiful women. Heh. The episode was good. There were lots of humor on this one. Two geeky tech guys fighting in the pool = hilarious. See, after Wendy leaves, there will be nothing else for these two to compete on, which had been a good source of chuckles for me in the past couple of seasons. They’re not also showing Greg a lot anymore. He was a likable character as a geeky guy who wanted to play with the “big boys”, but now that he’s one of the big boys, the writers seem to have ran out of ideas where to take his story. I’m digressing. I guess there isn’t really much to talk about this episode, so I’ll end my post right here.

Yes, I thought I was watching a delayed episode of CSI Miami until Catherine entered the scene. I also enjoyed watching two geeks fighting over a beautiful girl. I guess a lot of people did not think that Hodges and Wendy were a good couple - I couldn't see the chemistry between them either. Yeah, you're right, only Catherine remains an eye-candy (although a bit old) in that show. Some sort of diva-ism going on, you think? A brother of mine keeps saying that the stories are getting old. They probably need fresh faces in that show to perk up the interest of people.

I started watching that episode, but I must admit that I fell asleep before it was over, so I don't really know how it ended. I did like the fact that Wendy and Hodges were a couple. I think that they made a cute couple, and they balanced each other out nicely. I don't know the reason why Wendy broke up with Hodges, especially since their relationship was not a major part of the show anyway but more like a minor recurring side-plot, so even though her character might not be on as much I don't think they needed to break-up. I liked Greg as a lab technician, but I never really thought that he was "geeky". In fact, he portrayed the part nicely showing that all lab techs do not necessarily have to have "Geek" written on their forehead. I agree that his character has not gotten the same attention since he finally made it into the field, and I think that he definitely deserves more attention. As for the girls, I think that there are plenty enough scantily clad girls in all the episodes to have sufficient "eye candy" for all the guys (and girls if they prefer them). However, since Gary Dourdan left, I don't think that there has been any "eye candy" for us girls, either, and that is just not right.
