In my situation, I don't think that I am personally alive only because of science and medicine, but I do think it is those two things that have made my quality of life the life that I have right now. That said, I do think that there are a lot of people that wouldn't be here today if it weren't for all of the advances in science and in medicine that have occurred over the past several decades. The biggest example of this is my cousin who had cancer as a child. She is twenty-eight years old now and living a normal life.

Hi. I dont agree with you that in ancient times there was no medicine and science technology. There are a number of instances where the scientists kept thinking that they are the ones to discover new medicines and medical practices but later found out that they existed in ancient medicinal methods. Ayurveda and siddha are proof of this. Ancient chinese medicine too has been around for years. Maybe you are talking about prehistoric time? I do agree with you that maybe there were less of dangerous diseases and viruses. Each time has its own deadly disease. But I think it is a little of everything. Not only science and medicine, it is also sometimes, something higher than all this. Some call it an act of god, some call it nature, and others something else. Whatever it is, it is doing a great job of keeping the human beings alive, dont you think?

science and medicine help us in our daily life but we are not alive because of them solely.some people don't even need and use those but thank god they are still alive.it is the way we live that keep us alive.

Hi, Crazy_Poster! I don't think so. Science and Medicine are the reasons for our longer life, but not the reasons for our living. The immunity is the first defense line of our body. Medicines are only assistant.

Science and medicine has helped make the average life span of a normal human longer. Dangerous diseases and viruses are already there, it was just poorly known. People blame the gods anger for it since they do not know what causes it. Now, we understand better, we are able to cure, and prolong life in general.

More dependence on science and medicine has diminised our tolerance power. Today, ever for a minor ailment, we rust to doctor and take medicine. Our body has strong healing powers, but it requires time to heal for which we have no patience may be becuase of high stressful and working life. However, there are many old age people who have never taken any medicine in their lifetime and live quite healthy life. I for myself have hardly taken any medicine in my 60 yrs of life.

We are alive not just because of medicines and science but because of our won ody resistance. Today we are able to live longer, maybe earlier people were not able to live long.

I so believe that humans are alive due to many factors which include science and Medicine. Think about it for a minute when a diseases spreads without science and medicine it can get completely out of control and wipe out all humans. Viruses today have evolve far beyond the natural medicine evolution that with out the updated researchers we could not survive. Just like technology evolution and booming, so have the viruses. They have become so powerful and potent that science and medicine have to evolve as well.

I think mdeicine is not strong enough to help somebody seriously ill, there is no cure for many types of cancer, but yet it saves many lifes, without vaccine many people wouldn't stay alive in the world we live in now and also vaccines helps us with such ilnessess as flu.

Technology and Medicine do not prolong our life solely. This is what we believe in but the truth is, living a life free from toxins, noxious stimuli, exercise habit, balance and healthy diet, and being stress free are the simple things we need to follow and live with in order to live longer. Though science helped us to find the best ways to live longer, the fate is still in us.

I often wonder if some of these more recent diseases are a creation of the pharmaceutical companies themselves. You always see in the movies how someone will come up with a virus to dominate and take over the world, because they have an antidote for the virus? Makes one think? All this for greed of money? Not saying this is what really happens, but it could be a possibility. I suppose the same could apply to computer viruses too!

I don't think we are just alive because of science and medicine.i mean in my own perspective view, all of us here have different reason for existence..God didn't just create human beings with His own likeness and image for no reason.we all have missions in life that we should fulfill.Even if health conditions nowadays can greatly affect our existence.
