Tinnitus

I have tinnitus. What that is basically is a ringing in my right ear that is always there. It's really high. I only ever really sense it when it is really quiet. It's not too loud. Only sometimes it gets loud enough to actually bother me, but not often I guess. Still I'd like to get rid of it. It does bother me somewhat that it's always there. I wouldn't even worry about it if it was only sometimes but the fact that it's always there and will get worse with time bothers me a lot. Has anybody gotten rid of their tinnitus? Is it possible to treat or to prevent it from getting worse over time?

This is an old discussion, but I am new here so I would like to reply to your question. I suffered from tinnitus, and it was a maddening situation. I managed to find a cure after, i tried a lot of different treatment plans. The therapies, that worked for me ,were the Tinnitus miracle program as well as the sound therapy. I hope ,you have solved your tinnitus problem by now.Good luck!

It took me a lot of time. Actually, I had to make changes to my lifestyle, for example, my diet or to learn how to relax. However, I was lucky because I didn't have hearing-loss issues. Does your father make use of hearing-aids? I know that in cases where a person suffers from both tinnitus and hearing-loss, the use of hearing aids can eliminate tinnitus.

I have some kind of noise in my ear but it's not really ringing. It really bothers me when i'm trying to go to sleep. i'M anxious to see the responses u get. I meant to ask the dr. about it when i went . I'm going to a new doctor & we were toobusy discussing some other problems & i didn't think of that.

As far as I know it won't go away. It will stay in there but the ringing will lessen. I got tinnitus 4 years ago due to listening to loud music on my headset. At first I had a hard time coping with it especially at night when all is quiet and I could hear the high pitched ringing and made me restless. But now the ringing is tolerable.

Firstly you should consult a doctor to find out if there is a medical solution, sometimes it may be an infection that may be easily treated. As tinnitus seems to have several causes and treatments, this link to wikipedia is a guide http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinnitus as with most online information it should always be verified with a doctor. I used to get a ringing in my ears after using my headphones for hours, though that may not count as tinnitus, it was painful at times. It stopped when I changed my headphones. A friend of mine would uses white noise generator at night when his tinnitus bothered him (he had an inner ear problem)here is where he would go http://www.simplynoise.com/ The sound annoys me, I do like the some other sounds that are used like the sound of rain. I hope you find a solution. Good Luck.

Tinnitus may indicate an inner ear infection. I have a friend who has told me that she often experiences ringing in her ears, and she gets dizzy all of a sudden. She once collapsed and was brought to the doctor to be diagnosed with Meniere's disease, which is an infection of the labyrinths of the inner ear. She was told that it was a permanent condition and that all she could do was to keep herself safe in case it would attack. I have read though that there is some sort of surgery for it. You might want to go ask a doctor to check you out. =D

Yep, a few days ago I watched a report on new treatments against tinnitus. One person underwent a surgery where he got a little device inserted in his body with a button, if it gets worse he presses the button and it lessens. Another one got some electrodes attached to his head and he gets little electricity shocks. Another one got magnet thingies attached to his head. The three doctors weren't sure on how it works but it does work. ;-) Ask your doctor.
