Do you save all your SMSs on your mobile?

Hi all. We keep receiving SMSs on our mobile phones. Do you delete those SMSs after reading or retain/save them? I normally forward the good ones and delete them thereafter. I save only those messages which are very very special and could later be forwarded. I believe storing ever SMSs is not wiser. What are you views?

If the message is important, I save them or set them as reminders for later. Especially if those messages contain information that is useful. Otherwise, I just delete them right away. My cell phone now automatically saves the messages right away, though, so sometimes I just keep them for the time being and delete them when I get the time. I don't get many forwarded quotes or messages anymore, but if I do, then I save them. And of course, I save heartwarming messages from my family and friends.

I wish I could store all the texts except for the promotional ones. Even though I am not much of a texter, I love receiving them. I used to stoe them on my primary email box but after I lost my mobile, with a basic version I cannot do that now. Nevertheless, the thoughts behind the SMSes are enormously recharging and probably the reason why I want to retain them forever.

I agree. Forwarding a chain text s fine but forwarding a message meant for us only is not done. I would be not pleased to see the message I had sent someone in someone else's inbox.

Normally people forward the SMSs received from others (sometimes, without even deleting the name of the original sender....). However, to convey my feelings and regards in my own words, I sometimes draft my own original text messages and send it to my dear ones (or even if I forward a message, I see to it whether it has any scope of further improvement, if so, I amend it accordingly and then forward it).

HI Mimpi! I understand that you love receiving good and interesting messages. If we can capacity in our mobile, we can see the stored message any time to cheer ourselves up. It is true the one who sends you an SMS is actually remembering you and want to share the his/her thoughts through SMS. Some SMSs are very personal and should not be seen by others, except for whom it has been intended for.

I don't usually store text messages. Once read I will delete them. It is eating up the memory of my phone.

This is the best and safest option to delete the SMSs, once you have read those.

I leave my messages on my phone and once a week or so, delete the lot. I do the same with received and dialled numbers etc. I don’t like to clog my phone with stuff I don’t need. Every few months I get rid of stored numbers I no longer need as well. I’m like that with my laptop too, I get rid if anything I no longer need on a regular basis!

Hi Paula! It is wiser on your part that you do not retain unnecessary stuff in your mobile or on laptop which can clog the instruments. Storing unwanted stuff is of no use, and we should keep deleting regularly.

hi deepak! how are you my good friend? well on my part, i don't usually save SMS unless they are important. but before, i do keep them all especially those quotes and nice messages that i got from friends. but no, i don't receive much of them anymore, maybe because i am also not that much active in using SMS. i remember when my husband and i are just bf/gf, i do keep all of his messages on my phone as long as there's a space. lol! i just delete them when there's no more space so that i can replace them with new messages from him. lol!

Hi Ck! How are you doing my dear friend? Am fine. It is wiser on your part that you do not save unwanted SMS now a days, however, previously you used to save it, when you had an affair with your hubby, when you were unmarried. CK - who says you are not boy friend or girl friend for each other, you still are friends for each other, are not you? Nice to see you in my discussion after a long time. Deepak

I have habit of storing messages from my close friends, and like you even I also forward messages to my other friends. These days mobiles are having lots of memory in built so we always have option to keep all the messages, and so I store all messages, I delete only few of them...

I just save the important ones, especially when I know that that person is forgetful. It serves as proof that he/she wrote and sent me that message. We also have to watch the memory capacity of your phone. If it's overloaded with messages, you may not be able to save more of your important messages.

Hi! Shall we conclude that you have some forgetful friends etc., who forget which message did they send you? And to refresh and remind them, you store their messages?

I usually save only good quotes and passages in my mobile inbox. Sometimes I saved the messages that are touching and from special people. All messages that are simple hi, hello, I delete all of them.

Yes, nice topic. My mobile phone now is like compute. I have created folders, so every sunday or every 10 days, I copy - paste the sms that I have to the sender's folder in the Saved Messages folders. So if i need one some time, then I will find it very easily.

I normally delete my sms after reading. I only retain those that contains certain information I need. I used to keep special sms which are meaningful and forward to my friends. However, a friend commented this is not sincerity especially if it is well-wishing another. Nowadays, I write my own sms instead of forwarding what I received.

Hi why! It is nice on your part that you attempt your own SMS and this way you can claim to be original. I see no harm in forwarding meaningful messages to other friends, even if they are not original.

My cellphone can store so many SMS because it depends on the memory card. As you know, usually one SMS won't be larger than 1KB. So storing quantity isn't a problem. But I won't save all the SMS in my cellphone. I only store important SMS from good friends and my family. I will delete the rest after reading it. I love China

I can understand, a cell phone with a memory card could store numerous SMSs, however, storing unwanted or unimportant messages is of no use. You do the wise thing.

I use my mobile mostly to make calls as I find it a nuisance to receive sms messages round the clock. If for some reason I keep the mobile on there will be countless messages which I promptly delete.

Receiving unwanted or promo SMS could be a nuisance, I agree with you. However, SMS could still come in your inbox, if you switch it on after 12 hours. Deleting the unwanted messages is the best thing.

It depends on SMS whether it is important or not? If it is important then only i also saved it, for e.g. if someone's message about meeting at some venue and time then sure keep it in mobile. :P Have a nice day!! -Rasorr
