Do you believe that winning lottery is only a luck meaning if you are lucky and pick up the right numbers then you win. Or other say that playing lotto is like you are gambling also. What do you think ? can you share your opinion please?

Luck and Gambling is always a package. Yeah you use your brains and strategy playing cards to beat your opponent, but that doesn't mean your opponent cannot beat you... you still need a bunch of luck. Playing Lotto is gambling. Any game you place a bet on is Gambling. If you just play games without involvement of money...that's what you call playing, not gambling. =)

Yes, I do think it is a form of gambling, because you can't really influence the draw in any way, such as by your skills etc. So sure, it is gambling in my opinion for sure!

Let us, first, talk about the difference between 'chance' and 'luck'. 'Chance' is something that happens randomly. Very often the probability that something can happen a certain number of times out of a total number of happenings can be expressed as a number. If you toss a coin a large number of times, the chance or probability that it will fall with one side up rather than the other ('heads' rather than 'tails') is 50% or one in two throws. Of course, because each throw is independent and random, you may get two, three or more 'heads' in successive throws. You can easily calculate the probability of this happening. It is the same as if you threw three coins at once each time: in a large number of throws, you would expect to get three heads about one eighth of the time. Most people would call it 'lucky' if they got more wins than expected. If they carried on playing, they would probably say that 'their luck had changed' when, actually, over the series of games, the total number of wins gets closer and closer to the mathematical chance of winning. Many people think of 'luck' as a thing that you either have or do not have at a particular moment. People say that 'it's a lucky day' or 'they feel lucky' or 'their luck is in' meaning that they feel they are going to win. Sometimes this is, to a certain extent, true if what they are doing is using some skill or knowledge to predict the outcome of something. There are days when one's ability to decide whether something is more likely to happen than something else may really be better. At those times one can be 'attuned' and actually make better, more successful choices. Games like Poker and Black Jack involve some skill but they are still essentially games of chance and most of the skill involves knowing the odds of a particular choice of cards and making the best of a randomly dealt hand. There are days when one can play a better game and win more often and that is really what is meant when one says that one is 'having a lucky day' or 'luck is with me' Whatever game you play to win money, if it depends even to a certain extent on chance, it is gambling. A lottery depends entirely on chance (there is NO skill involved at all that can affect whether you win or not, the odds are mathematically determined and fixed and the numbers that are drawn are - or should be - completely random), so it is pure gambling. There is NO element of 'luck' in the sense I use it above.

I do place my bet on lotto occasionally. Winning in the lotto is really based on pure luck. Of course, I wish on winning the lotto, but if I don't, it doesn't hurt me either. I don't take it seriously, just forget about it and try my luck next time. I only bet on the lotto if I have money to spare.

I remember my statistics class back in my college days when we talk about lottery. If you really try to compute it mathematically -- the chances are really low. So if you win in the lottery -- I guess you're one lucky person.
