A day dedicated to God!

Ma Durga - Holy Mother!
India
October 15, 2010 12:59pm CST
Today was a very auspicious in India. It is festive time and all are immersed in the joy of celebrating Durga Puja. This eighth day of the worship has important significance. Today, the devout believe that Mother could be felt smiling on her children ( the devotees) because of the grandeur and repeated recital of "Mantras", the idol of Mother Durga is said to be alive. Well, I was with our family and had the opportunity to take my parents to the different venues where the worship (Puja) was held. I feel so enthralled by staring at the face of our beloved Mother, even if the idol is different from the previous venue. The day was hectic but was fun filled to the brim! Now, at the end of the day I just feel so wonderful about spending one complete day dedicated to God. I asked for a list of things from Mother God. Do you take time out to spend a day for God? Do you ask for a lot of things from God or just one single thing at a time? Could God look really real, and listen to our prayers as I feel time and time again? Bodhi A very Happy Durga Puja to all!

Hi Ann, It has been a while that we spoke. I am glad that you liked the festival and you learnt so much about it from your friend. Just wanted to let you know something else that in India the rituals and the way Durga puja is celebrated is a bit different at different places. Some people fast for the entire Nine days and we Bengalis rather are into huge feasts and rejoice during the festive time. Hehehehehe.

hi Bodhisatya thats a pretty user name. I am in the US and while we do not celebrate the same things as our cultures are different, I enjoy learning about your religio n and I love how you are so family oriented 'as thats sometimes lacking in my own culture I am a Christian and I do devote a day every weekend to my God.Oh I love that term Mother God.I think God could look really real and I know he does listen to our prayers and he answers them in his own time.God Bless. hugs from hatley.

Hello Hatley, I am so glad that you liked the name. Well, it is my real name actually. Although our cultures are different and maybe we call upon Him by different names and forms but every one of us are His children or should I say Her children. Thank you so much for your kind words and I pray He is there with you always.
