A country cannot think for tomorrow with yesterday's ideas. The problems a nation faces are new and requires new ways of tackling them which the old guard cannot offer. The youth would have a better understanding of situation now and hence would be better equipped to tackle the situation. While the nation moves on from one idea to another the old generation remains stuck with the old framework that they realized early on, they continue to see all situations and solutions to them through this same old understanding which may no longer be valid. what do you think

Yes youth can really change the way politics goes here in the Philippines. They have fresh thoughts and great ideals that will make them different from the traditional politicians. But even so, if they will get exposed to the other hustler politicians doing corruption and negligence, it will not be soon enough these youth can also be like them. It is really upon these youth of the nation who will enter politics to be a great example to each and every constituents they have.

Your comments confirm a real problem and that is that ego and pride make youth think they have all the answers and can do things so much better than those who have come before. Youth are more idealistic and tend to see things this way, so it is not totally unusual. Can youth change politics? They certainly need to be involved. First of all, the decisions made today are what they will be living with as adults. When they are old enough they can vote smart. Secondly youth have plenty of energy and enthusiasm which is often needed. Thrid, but not least, the ideas of youth need to be heard and considered. Because youth do look at situations from a fresh perspective, it can lead to some creative solutions. On the other hand, the perspective of youth is not balanced with the reality of experience. That is why youth cannot talk as if they will just drop all of the old generation and their ideas. The successes and failures of the previous generations provide lots of valuable information that may allow a new generation to find the path of success sooner. In some ways the problems people face are different from one generation to the next. In many ways the problems, although dressed differently, are the same because people characteristics are the same.

I think that the generations can learn from one another. Fresh new ideas can help but listening to wisdom of the experinces of life has merit too. We learn from one another. It is true some people get stuck in a rut and do not have vision. But you maybe surprised at some oldsters who are quite open to new concepts and ideas and welcome and promote them.

It is very risky for the youth to participate in politic. This is similar to the Indonesia. The demonstrators were mostly the youth or students. They claimed they were knowing very much. In fact, they were innocent, they were unmature, they were emotional, they were mild, they were used by the older politicians to get what they wanted, they were hurt or killed without knowing the sadness of their parents. How poor of these youths? In my country, Malaysia, the students are not allowed to join the political activities. It is absolutely RIGHT. Changes do not mean better. Look at the previous political changed in Taiwan. What was hapenning later ? ha! ha! ha!

I'm totally agree with you my friend that youth can change total scenario of politics, & about entering to politics I thing youth are not showing their interest because (this is my personal opinion) there is no way to enter because the person who are there they want either their child to be there or the person whom they support. Youth are having the power to change the world with their energy.

Well,i heard this comment from one commentator,it says "Let's give the young fresh politician a chance, coz, at first they will surely serve the nation with honesty, then at least the country's economy will have time to recover, becoz, later in their lives (youth politicians) they will realized that they need to be a corrupt one "

The youth you referred to are just the offspring of the old guards mentioned. You can expect a mango to bear bananas or the other way around. What's being mentioned may have it's points but i have to disagree with it. Politics is not for the youth alone nor can you claim that the youth are the ones who'll change politics. The youth need guidance, you can only get wisdom as you age. Letting the youth reign can be likened to a baby handed with a knife. balance is important in politics, trouble often arises as soon as the balance is lost. Although it's true that you can't teach an old dog a new trick, there's no way you can replace first hand experience with theories.

The problems with youths today is that they dont have the focus and determination of what the older generations had. With all those types of inventions that made life easy, youth now a days are sometimes idle. Also there are some old ways that made nations great. Youths should listen and put in mind what older folks think. Because they know and had experiences way better than ours. We must not take for granted our fore-fathers idea of handling politics. And at the same time think also of newer ideas that could help the government. That is a problem with youths today, they think that they should be left alone and not hearing advices from people. But infact they should heed out advices but still stand for what you think will be best. Politics isnt about how youths can control and old folks' ways are has beens. It is about thinking of what is here and now.
