Generally I love all kinds of fruits and vegetables but don't like this particular thing 'broccoli'. Though other members of my family loves this and so I have to face it every other day. Does skipping broccoli can affect my health? What can be its substitute?

Hi. JackRoy. I don't think that it will affect ones health. I think that as long as you eat dark leafy green vegetables, you can still get the benefits of being healthy as well.

As long as you eat green vegetables, it doesn't much matter whether broccoli is one of them or not. All green vegetables, especially those in the cabbage family, contain essential minerals and things which help to reduce the effects of free radicals which are supposed to be agents in producing cancer. I am not over fond of broccoli, either, but I will eat it, for example, if it is served in a white sauce, in a quiche or made into a soup. Broccoli and Stilton soup (you can use other kinds of blue cheese or just a plain cheddar) is a particular favourite of mine.

Sheesh! As much as possible i avoid the broccoli and his sister cauliflower. Why? I always end up gassy! I know they are very nutritious but it hurts when i have gas.
