Crochet stuffed animals... who would have thought?

Have you tried this yet? Those of you who crochet (or knit), that is. Making stuffed animals. Mom had a book of patterns, so I thought I'd try a few to see how they came out and if my son liked them. I also thought that I'd try making a "halloween" cat for a co-worker who's going through some rough stuff who loves cats and whose birthday happens to be Halloween. Man if I knew my son would love them so much, I wouldn't have bothered buying regular stuffed animals all this time -- much cheaper this way. He's taken every single one I've made (5 total so far) and has started flipping through the book and pointing at different animals he apparently wants. I had planned on making one for my niece for Christmas, but I'm thinking if I do that I have to work on it after he goes to bed and keep it all hidden. Have you ever tried these? I remember my mom did some for my sister when we were kids that she loved for years.

I have not, but I have thought about it. I am glad your son is enjoying the stuffed animals.

I crocheted some stuffed animals for some nieces & nephews years ago. I don't know how the kids liked them, but their mothers didn't care for them (weren't posh enough for them) & the stuffed animals did not stay in their houses for long. I stopped making gifts for these families. I now provide these families with minimal gifts from discount stores. I only make hand crafted items for those people who appreciate them. Happy crafting. PS: I think I overstuffed the first few of the animals I made.
