Which is better, Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials?

I'd like to know which is a better antivirus between the two. I noticed that there are some virus that cannot be detected by Microsoft security essentials but i don't know if Avast is much better compared to MSE.

i think they can be considered equal..even if i prefer avast in the security settings and not just microsoft solution...in general as regards antivirus in the major of cases if you stay uptodate about yoru virus database and general settings normally you can be considered safe enough

I've used Avast for around 2 years already. I've satisfied with their service. Never use Microsoft MSE. If I found any virus, I capture it and send it to Avast, and only one day after they will have an updated anti virus database with my virus updated inside also.
As computer technician, I'm always recommend this anti virus to my customer.
Actually any anti virus is good, as long as you always update your database frequently, daily is better.
