Just read a piece of news that Paul the Octopus is dead. He died in Oberhausen Sea Life Centre in Germany, just under three months shy of celebrating his third birthday. There are plans to give Paul his own burial plot within the aquarium's grounds and erect a permanent shrine for him. Definitely, Paul had been an off-the-field icon for the World Cup 2010.

Yes, I heard the news yesterday. He could be posthmously given the FIFA predictor of the year along with the Ballon d'or and Best coach awards. Anyhow so we will not have Paul around to predict the results for the Euros. So Mani the Parakreet has a free run for that. Cheers! Ram

Ya, that leave Mani the only predictor. Let hope that Mani will be able to be as accurate as Paul.

It was very weird how he predicted so accurately all the German results and the final's outcome. I never believed in the accuracy of his predictions, but it was very funny to see that he had right all 8 times he was in action. He had made accurate predictions during Euro 2008 as well, but he was wrong in the final where he tipped on Germany. It is a shame that he hadn't had a flawless Euro Champ prediction and it is a shame that he didn't make a mistake at the semifinal at the World Cup 2010. Now, he will not have the chance to make his predictions anymore, but he has surely become a hero in Spain and a great attraction in Oberhausen.
