Where I live, everyonre that has a dog must purchase a dog license every year. If you don't do it on time, or you are caught without one, you get a penalty/ticket. Does your city require a dog license?

In Philippines, we don't have it. That's why many dogs are not treated right and there are may strays dogs and cats here. I think it's a good thing to have a license to protect animals from irresponsible dog owner.

Smart Pup - Doesn't Get Lost
Oh yes, where I live does require a dog license. The main reason, besides helping fund the dog parks, doggie bags and such, if your dog is lost, the license will help reunite the lost dog with it's rightful owner. My dog has a license and I have no problem paying the small annual cost. What I do have a problem with is that my dog is quite small and the license is so big, my dog doesn't wear a collar and barely ever is made to wear a harness and leash. So, she is never wearing her license. I keep her very close and watch her like a hawk when we are outdoors. What I do, is I put her license on my key chain. I have, in the past went to a key cutting place and got a tiny circular pendant engraved with her license number on it that I then attached to her harness just in case. Well we have never been stopped by animal control. If we were I would just give them her license off my keys. At least she has one. They can see that it is far to large for her to "wear". I totally support the dog licensing although I know those who don't.

Dogs and cats need a license here. You can be fined if your animal is found outside and picked up without a license. My dog has a microchip, it's pretty much the same thing. While my cat doesn't go outside at all, he used to have a license, but doesn't now. We make sure he doesn't get out, and even if he did, he wouldn't go very far because he gets scared of everything that's out there.

I live in Canada and to the best of my knowledge every city requires it. Dogs must have there rabies shot yearly to get the dog license.

I have heard of cities doing this but the one I live in is small so they don't require it. But I live next to a military base and I know in order to have a dog on there it has to have papers and can not be of certain breeds. I think it shouldn't matter about papers or licenses. I think the only kind of paperwork people need for their pets are their vet records..Just saying :o)
