Ok so we were always told when trick or treating that if the outside lights were off then you didn't go to that house. Well unfortunately this year we are not giving out candy, BUT our door bell is ringing off the hook! I feel bad but I've just been ignoring the door. Idk what to do? I'm half tempted to make a sign! lol Any suggestions?

When I used to stay home to pass out candy before I had kids I was so dissapointed we were lucky if we got 2 trick or treaters. We live at the top of a bad hill where people drive really fast so no one wants to walk the hill to get candy from our house. I dont blame them. Thats the rule if the light is not on outside on the porch then you do not go knocking at that door for candy!

Most people around our area that don't want trick or treaters put signs on their doors, but theres are a few that just turn all the lights off downstairs which usually means they are not going to answer the door. I had left our living room light on whilst we were out though as i do sometimes due to nosey neighbours.

Quit being a fuddy duddy, it's only one night of the year. It saddens me to see how many people consider themselves "lucky" that they don't get tick or treaters.

I;m not saying that! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I usually go all out, but this year I was unable to :( I usually sit on the porch handing out candy when I have it

We already have ours off. We didn't get hooey for trick or treaters this year. It was just too cold, even snowed a little, lol. Miserabel night for it so most people cut routs short and went in early. I'd be surprised if we had 12 kids come by (including my grand kids).

You may need to make a sign. No treats sorry! Thank goodness I live in a spot in my neighborhood that children don't go trick or treating. But just in case some trick or treaters decided to stop on by, I left my lights off tonight.

You should make a sign ... Sorry, out of candy!
