I Enjoy Being Admired

As a child my father would praise me with all the good things that I couldn't see any negative points in me. But reality sank in when I started going to school and met kids who are much better than way. Since then I have not been admired by others except my father and a few people.
I was an ugly duckling that turned into a swan. And now that I am a swan, I just enjoy people praising me for bing smart and beautiful at the same time. Is there something wrong with this attitude?

I do not feel that there is anything wrong with accepting kind comments, accenting your beauty and wits and lavishing in such glory. Good for you for having beauty and brains. I would thank those who make such nice comments, providing that there is no hidden agenda and just enjoy it!

Well thank you very much for this. And like you, even though I enjoy praises, I am careful about this and try to think if it's just mere flattery and the hidden agenda as well. It's something that I should watch out for usually.

I have had to be careful for the same reasons and never hurts but do enjoy! Overall.
Even if there is a hidden agenda, one can still have fun with it.

As long as you don't take it to a smug, stuck-up kinda way... NO! It's great to be admired and feeling wanted and praised for things si perfectly normal...
We all need to feel good every so often! Just stay modest though!! As it will sll stop... :-(

Yeah, modesty is actually still the best way to make people appreciate me more. That's why I never put my head where it shouldn't be! Thanks for the comment.

Thank you so much for this comment! I'm trying to be humble as much as i can. I just can't help being admired though! And since most of you said that there's nothing wrong with it, then I'll just continue to enjoy this!

I think there is nothing wrong with this attitude, being transformed from an ugly duckling to swan is really very good, it requires your commitment to your goal and I think this is the thing which you did in your life, I wish you best of luck for the rest of your life

Thank you so much. My becoming a swan was never intentional at all. I just learned to accept myself and become confident. Never try to compare myself to others and just do what i do best. Cheers!

nope. i don't think so as long as your feet are still on the ground. Putting that thing on your head will turn you into ugly. It is okay to enjoy what you attain right now.

It's a good feeling to be admired. We should take pride in ourselves when someone looks up to us. it doesn't mean that we are conceited.

Sounds to me as a developing of confidence as many of us do not truly see things this way, but okay for the sake of your discussion I have to say it great that you understood the difference.
With time you continued to develop the confidence which I don't find absolutely anything wrong with that at all.

Its nothing wrong in being happy by getting others. Whenever if we get praised we will be definitely be happy. And more over its all the human attitude to behave like this. And there is nothing wrong in you i think... Enjoy when ever you are getting praised.
But make sure and be attemptive of the fellows who will praise you unneceesarily to getting their needs satisfied...thats only precaution you have to take...
