I've been having a hard time deciding which phone to buy. All of them seem the same to me. I am choosing between Sony Xperia x10 minipro and samsung corby pro. My friends can't help me because they keep on saying I should buy an iPhone4 which is TOTALLY out of my budget. Any suggestions?

between your choices, i'd go with experia.. its sony and they are known for having study, time tested phone.. plus the experia features arent bad at all.. specially the camera part since sony specializes in imaging.. after all, they're a camera company...

I am thinking of buying the smaller xperia, so the features aren't all the same but it's so tiny and it comes with a slide out qwerty keypad...corby pro also has a slide out qwerty keypad but it's a bit bigger than the minipro. My problem with the reviews of the x10 minipro is the battery life...they said the battery was terrible and you have to charge it everyday. although when I checked the website and the stores, they claim that it can last for 3days. so I'm really confused.

Really? My friends say that the internet browsing in the corby pro is slow....I guess it's only because of the service provider?

i know what you mean by budget. everything seem so far out of my budget. at the beginning i was just waiting on a used phone from my mom, which i really didn't like the phone but i needed a phone. but then when i called them and they told me i could get a new phone for free plus a bluetooth headset, i just couldn't say no. and it was a bit more updated phone than the one my mom was giving me. i appreciate my mom giving me the phone but i am very much pleased with the phone i got. i usually try to find a phone within my budget of course plus if it is actually of any use to me. i needed to be able to do some type of web searching on my phone in which i can. and i needed a camera to be able to take pictures which is also included. so it really depends on what your needs are from the phone. well i hope you can come to a decision soon.

I also need something that would allow me to browse the web and take pictures. But I don't need it to be high end. I just need to check my email often through wi-fi. Internet access through the provider would just be too expensive. :)

well if u r going for x10 mini pro.i must tell u its battery life is worst.i am having it since last 2 months.sony isn't doing anything to update mini pro.they are just making promises while other android phones are having updated version of os[samsung smartphones].sony is giving 2.1 android os now while samsung has given 2.1 as basic os.

i am using mini pro since last 2 months.i haven't remember even single time the battery lasts for 3 days and wifi,i don't use whole day.and for update,SE really su**s.they have started updating os to 2.1 but there are plenty of bugs though they have taken more time than they had announced and also only 2.1 android which is now becoming older one for other brands like samsung which has 2.2

Really? They said it lasts for 3 days, just like my old phone even if I listen to music most of the time. They also said that leaving the wi-fi on for the entire day would likely drain the battery so it's suggested that you turn it off when not in use. They still haven't upgraded the OS? I heard people say the upgrade will be on the first month of the 3rd quarter...that sucks.

I am not so familiar with the phones that you mentioned. Of course, a primary thing to ask yourself is how much would you be willing to spend for a cellphone. From there narrow down your choices based on your budget ceiling. Look into each feature of the phones. Select which features you can maximize on. Then look into the brand and it's after sales service like warranty, service centers, etc. Then other factors would weigh in like the design. Also it helps to ask people who have the same brand what they think of the performance of the unit. I hope you make a decision and enjoy your brand new phone soon :-)

I've been using SE for more than four years now and I only had to get it fixed once and it was because of the memory card. Their service was quite fast and the people were polite too. Although my brother says that Samsung has excellent service. I like X10 minipro because it's really small and can easily fit in any of my bags and even my coin purse!

I really love Sony Ericsson and that is my choice. They are not the same. Just look on the features. Camera is one of the things that im always looking for. Plus the color. I like color black. Very elegant. Just dont listen to your friend if you can afford it now. May be later if you really have enough money to buy it. Just go to the phone that fits to your budget for now.

I am also using SE right now. I've been using it for over 4 years and this is the only time that it's acting up. I guess it wants to retire already. LOL

yes it is true iphone is too much expensive and in my opion it doen't worth at all the price it costs!! So i think that in many cases to understand which kind of device is better for you and your needs as well it is better before buying consulting the tech specs in a device in amny cases there you can understand if it is suitable for you or not!!Surely in many cases you should find a comprimise betwwen features and price but in general i think that you can find it because the market is really avrious so depending if you are searching amultimedia, internet phone or just a phone so you can find the most affordable for you!!

Most of the time, when I read the specs I just get dizzy. I am really not a tech-savvy person so all those technical terms seem alien to me. I really just need it for checking my mail, basic internet surfing, and of course sms and calls.

As for your title question, I usually look for the functions I need when I'm looking for a cell phone. Right now, because of my job position, I do need access to emails & internet. That's why I got a blackberry. As far as Iphone goes, I've had bad experiences with 3 different ones, original, 3G & 3Gs. They may have improved it with iphone 4 but I will never get another iphone again. For 2 phones you have listed, I'm not too crazy about touch screen phones. They both have slide out keypads but it's only part of a function. If anything, I'd go with samsung.

I think an iphone is cute with all their apps and stuff, but not really for work purposes. It's like an entertainment system in a phone. BBs are not really that accessible in my country, so I guess it will be just as expensive as an iphone. Thank you for your response.

I am not at all familiar with the phones you mentioned. I have a Samsung Fascinate which is Galaxy S phone. It is a smartphone, which means it has lots of features, including the internet. I think when you are considering a phone, you should do a review of the ones you would like to purchase, and read the reviews on it and that way you will know if the phone you want is right for you. Before I purchased my phone, I did reviews on youtube. I did one review after another, so that I could decide. The reviews will give the specifics the phone, as well, as how it works and things like that. I find it easier to do reviews, since every phone is different and they have different features on them. Some have more features than others. I hope this has helped you, and I am sorry I don't know anything about the phones you mentioned. Take care, and have a very good day.

I would love to get my hands on a Samsung Galaxy S, I actually like it better than iphone. But just like the iphone, it's WAY out of my budget. I've read a lot of reviews for the two phones, and they both have mixed reviews.

When it comes to buying mobile phones I always find myself indecisive. It is very difficult to chose out of so many varieties. Then I ask myself a question what I need the phone for? There are few things I would want my phone to do. Communicate of course is the primary need. Next is messaging. Then I should be able to surf the net. I need it for photography. Latest is it must have 3G features. I do little research on the internet. Read the reviews. See the plus and minus point. See to my budget and then go and buy the phone. What to do with my old phone is another thing that always bugs me.

I agree, finding out what to do with my old phone is also another concern. It's a pretty old phone, even if it is well maintained nobody would buy it from me. I've used it for almost half a decade now and it's not wi-fi capable...

I have one of the StraightTalk phones from Walmart. I have had no problems out of it, and it is very cheap..only $45 a month for unlimited text, unlimited talk, and unlimited internet. They have alot of phones to choose from too, including one that is touchscreen. You should check them out. I'm very happy with mine. You can go to straighttalk.com. :)

sadly, there is no walmart where I'm from. I am not from the US...but that sounds like a sweet deal. I wish they had deals like that here.

at first budget is my concern.. then i will choose the best mobile within that budget.. But if you decide to buy for a long time use.. then listen to your friends.. that is really a good phone.. but want some thing similar to iphone 4 but with a small budget means.. go for Nokia N900 or N8.. N900 is gor geeks and chose it if you are technically good else for to N8...

Oh no...I am not good in technology at all. Thank you for your suggestion, I will look into the N8. :) I need a phone that will last for a long time because I do not want to change phones often. It will be a waste and I don't want to undergo another choosing process. LOL
