Cash or credit - carrying which is better for you?

And by better, I mean which method of payment helps you control your budget better? Or do neither?
I've talked about this with customers at work as well as friends & family and it seems like everyone has conflicting answers. Some people think that carrying cash around is better, because they're less likely to spend their money - because they can SEE it right in front of them, and know exactly when they're running out (instead of having to balance their checking or check their credit limit and so on, depending on what kind of card you have).
Other people think that cash isn't the way to go because they're MORE likely to spend money when they have cash on hand, and also because they feel less likely to use their cards on stupid, "small" purchases, like a soda at the gas station. (Well, it doesn't stop me any..LOL.)
What do you think? When keeping a budget, which is the better way to go?

I don't carry much cash, I use my debit card for almost everthing these days. You just have to be very careful about keeping tract of your account balances.

I usually carry both, and then depending on what I am getting (and how much it is), I pay with one of these options. I think people who easily spend too much should avoid credit cards, but other than that, I think everyone should go with their own preference, to be honest.

I'd rather carry cash and limit it. I don't wanna carry credit cards cuz it has its own limits and their too high. I might be tempted to buy without considering my budget.
