Though some favor the sound of a Humbucker pickup because of its noise reduction. most people still use the single coil pickups. Is it because of its sound? Output? or tone? We have yet to find out from our readers. Feel free to comment on this.

I've used both, and I like both of the sounds! I like the humbucker, because it has a full massive sound and sustain ! I like the single-coil because it bites and cuts like a sword! I prefer to use my main pickups close to the fretboard, instead of close to the bridge like other guitar players, I seem to get a fuller sound like that!

yeah as what I've noticed most people that imply heavy distiortion tend to use humbuckers because it shreds like a chainsaw. And that's right single coils when used on the Neck side of the guitar tend to produce a somewhat unique tone, the sound of the strings tend to breathe especially when you're on power chords.

with nowadays there is a single coil pickup which converted to humbucker pickup. It retain the tone but with less noise and more crisp to it. It is something used by Dave Murray of Iron Maiden. I like to used humbucker when playing with distortion or metal sounds. But when I play clean tone, I would say I prefer the single coil.
