Yeah,You need some experience to be able to tune and use it but the key is you have to balance the tension between the string and spring at the back of the guitar to make the tremolo parallel to the guitar and don't forget to use 0.009 string gauge.

I've found it's easiest to tune two strings at a time. Tune the low E, then the A. When the A is set, then go back to the low E and make the small adjustment to get it set. Then go on to D, when it's set it only takes a small adjustment to E and A... do this through to the high e. It is a lot less frustrating and takes about half the time.

It's not that it's unstable. If set up right, it's actually very stable. Especially if you're into using the whammy bar frequently. The floydrose system was actually developed for that reason.. To keep the guitar in tune even after a dive bomb, which most standard tremolo bar systams can't do. The reason why it's a bit complicated to tune is because a floydrose type bridge is a floating system. The tension of the strings and the springs behind the guitar needs to be balanced. So it takes a bit of patience to to balance them. Basically you need to adjust the springs as you tune the guitar. By turning the screws holding the springs, and in some instances, add or subract springs, especially if you're switching to a different string gauge. But once you're set on a specific gauge, adjusting the springs won't be necessary anymore on your next string change. The biggest problem with a floydrose system is once you break a string, the system will be out of balance. The guitar will go out of tune. Replacing the broken string with the same gauge will fix the problem right away.

yes, it is.... tuning a floyd rose system guitar si very difficult, i had one and i sold it for that reason, because first you have to ne all the strings, close the mini bridge down the headstock, then try to tune again with a little pieces in the bridge, if you do that ther good, but if you don't do it, you have to begin again!!!! i hate that system!!! that is the reason i use gibsons bridge!
