Do you consider yourself a good typist?

I remember having to use an office computer that most of the keys on the keyboard were faded. Yet, I had no problems using it. People who saw me use it were impressed. I think that I'm not the best typist in the world, but I can type fairly quickly with a few mistakes. Not perfect, but hey who is? How about you?

I do consider myself a good typist. There are times when I little slow, but generally I do feel comfortable with typing on my computer and such. It's something that I have grown accustom to doing.

That is good. There are times when I slow down a bit as well. Mostly because when I have been typing for a good time or my brain isn't working fast enough. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

there are times when I type slow, there are times when I type fast with mistakes, and there are times when I type slow but accurate depends on my mood.

well in recent years with too much chatting and programming i think my speed has improved a lot. now i can type for quite some time without even looking at the keys. yes i do make mistakes and at that time, i have to look at the keys. but otherwise i guess typing now a days is important and there would be a time when all children will be given proper typing training.

Speed always does improve when we do it a lot. I think more and more, we are seeing people typing more easily from a younger age. I didn't start to learn like the fifth or sixth grade, but I caught on. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Hi, megamatt! I'm not a good typist as you do. I feel shamed to say that I'm not able to type without looking at my keyboard completely now though I have become a computer user for nearly 13 years.

Believe me I have known people who are still very uncomfortable with typing and not that good. About the same amount of time as well. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I'm good enough. As I type since I was 10, I has a lot of practice on it. Often I don't watch the keyboard as I type and only see the screen for typos. Not so fast, but never measured it really. And as I usually have to type a lot of code while working, I'm still practicing it every day.

Typing every day and practicing does help keep those skills sharp. Writing code is something that we have to be careful with, because it is very precise and even the best typists make mistakes. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Oh, I am very impressed too. You are a very "experienced" typist. I am at the opposite end - "inexperienced" ! I always have to check things I type, because I make many mistakes, even while using a new keyboard. If I were to us a faded keyboard, I would be typing "g" for "h", and "n" for "m" always !!

I don't think that would be a trick many would do. I surprised myself. Then again, I have my keyboard on a shelf on my desk at home, that is a bit underneath my desk that slides out. Half of the time I can't be bothered to slide the shelf out. There is enough room for my hands, so I am typing blind. In fact, I'm doing that right now as I type this message. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Typing has been my forte. I type 92 words per minute and never have to look at my keyboard. Being a member here on myLot I think I have picked up even more on my speed.

Yeah I consider to be a fairly decent typist.I can type above 50 wpm and sometimes have speeds of 60-70 in bursts.I think I should practice a little bit more as i am going into an office job in the next year or so an they require above 70 or more for some positions with most entry jobs requirement at least 55 or 60 wpm. You simply cannot get by if you are still using the pecking technique using just 2 fingers. You need to be able to type without looking fluently in order to obtain one of those positions which i plan on doing.

I noticed a lot of the jobs out there require above average typing skills these days. People who have lackluster typing skills might be in trouble, especially in those jobs that require constant use of a computer. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I guess I am. I used to be part of a social networking site called Bebo and they had a typing test there that recorded your typing speed. I can't remember what speed I got but it had said I was faster than 80% of all the people who had taken the test. So unless everyone there is a reasonably slow typist, I'm probably a quite a fast typist.

Yeah those timed typing tests, well it really does depend on who took it. You'd figure that it would be a variety of people of different speeds across the board given something like that though. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.
