Boring and Interesting Discussions...

Hello Lotters, I remember making this very interesting and mind broading discussion when i still have my now old deleted account. I waited and waited for hours and even days, but no one respond to it. Looking back after a year, i realized that the discussion wasn't the interest of others, and therefore it led to my conclusion that my discussions are "BORING" to the max and then since I've come back with this "Knight" account, everything seemed really well. some of my topics aren't really that interesting still but i get to have responses (that's important). i would noticed that my topic is interesting if there's more than one page of discussions. but now a days i tried to avoid making discussions too much interesting, i might end up having more than 5 pages responses (don't you know how tiring it is?) How would you know if you're topics are interesting or boring, do you even bother to know if it's quality or not? Any views are well appreciated Thank you and Have a Great Day......

Hi LetranKnight25, As I am new here I am sure I am unaware of your earlier ID and earlier discussions. Going by what you describe, I feel that articles are not that boring but many people (myLotters) just dont seem to be interested in some of the topics. I can say (with my small experience) that there is no strict definition of Boring discussion or Interesting Discussion. It is just about the timing and your friend circle here. My experience says that threads that I never expected to get number of responses have been better in getting people to me and the ones which I expected to be better off... flunked Now when I analyze the reasons there are two things that come to my mind - 1. I put them at wrong times and 2. My friend circle did not feel interested on that discussion. I wished that they had something like "Views" Counter on the thread (visible only to the one who started it off) so that s/he could make a better judgment. Cheers, theSids.

well, when i thinkk a topic to start i think what is interesting to people. and for online earners, nothing would be as important as money matters. so i started topics related to earning money online. sometimes, i wrote personal topics.

I have yet to figure out why some discussions don't get even one response. While others get many. I just viewed a discussion that got 25 responses, and it was just about a person who couldn't get to sleep. She clearly stated that she wasn't even looking for advice. With so many people on here I would expect that every discussion gets at least one response, but they don't. I just post questions that are of interest to me and let it play out how it will. I try to stay genuine in that regard. As far as answering discussions I look for new discussions and if I can answer them sincerely, I do. I figure by doing it this way I give some discussions at least one response. I'm thinking that a question might get a lot of responses because of the friends of the poster, or the topic it's listed under. But, I truly don't know.

Oh, and it might even be the time of day that the discussion is posted.

You may think that your discussions or someone elses discussions are boring, but it all depends on if people get the time to read them or can think of a response to put.I think that not everyone has the same interests as other people and some people maybe have never done the things that you are talking about in the discussions that you have started.

We all try to be interesting. Sometimes, we paraphrased interesting topics. Sometimes, our topics get deleted because some people says that they are against the Mylot rules. That is life on the Mylot site. We learn everyday. Hopefully, we meet good people who are more open and respectful of our posts.

I find that you and I are quite in the same whereas we only post quality my friend. I find that as you we give awareness and helpful advice where as many members are interested with what we have to say. We also do not participate in negativity either so I have to tend to believe members remember this. Timing of course is also a factor but members do remember our participation with their discussions and eagerly return the favor as well. I would never post something just to post as I would be too embarrassed to do some of the things I see.

for me, it is very simple... if i receive many responses, then that means my discussions are interesting... but if i didn't receive many responses or any response, then that means my discussions are boring... that's how i judge it... take care and have a nice day...

Hello there Letran Knight!. Well I havent been here for a while but I am not new here in Mylot. Based on my experience the past few years there can be a lot of factors why people do not respond to your discussions. Same with blogging, you can have a very interesting topic but you do not have the audience. That's why it's important to have Mylot friends. The more friends, the more exposure, the more comments and of course $$$ LOL. :P However, in thinking about topics, you should think of something UNIVERSAL, something that most people can relate to. I have a discussions that hit lots of responses like "Can you eat alone in a restaurant" because people can answer it based on their personal experience. Lastly very important- develop a polite attitude. It attracts people. Dont participate in or start a discussion solely for money. Have fun!

Hi LetranKnight, It is difficult to judge which topic will be interesting for mylotters. If I get less number of responses then I can conclude that my discussion will be interested by mylotters. I have some good friends here and they never let me down so there is no topic with ‘zero’ responses.

i still have a few of that too. but there is nothing we can do about that. we can not control what people want to response at. maybe we taught that it was fun for us but it is not for others. maybe we think that it was very interesting but it was not really for them. the last discussion i had was the naruto discussion i made. nobody cared about it har har har, but its okay.

I think it can be unpredictable when you start a discussion knowing how popular it’s going to be. I compare it to my article writing. In the past I published pieces I thought were really good and received minimal page views whereas at another time I half-heartedly produced articles I saw as mediocre and they proved to be a real page views earner! Discussions here can be a bit the same; I write what I feel like and hope for the best because at the end of the day I cannot possibly predict how each topic is going to go.

I think that is normal. I mean, we can't get the interest of all the people here. There are times that we may not be very interesting. I remember one discussion tyhat I mad. I asked for an ingredient in baking and only one answered but I didn't really get the answer that I want or need. Even though, I am still happy cause someone left his answer.

Well I really do not regard the topics that I am responding to because I just answer the responses which my friends started most of the times. I just look up to my email and I am always getting notifications that my friend have started a discussion. I always try to answer all of it. Maybe 80 percent of all my friends' discussions. Well your user name is kinda catchy in a way. Plus you carry the name of one top University here in our country. Continue to post great discussions. Well it is good if you will be having great discussions because you will gain the popularity here in this site. I wouldn't mind posting comments to each of the members who respond to my discussions.

No. It is simply because when I start a discussion I am genuinely interested to know how people view the matter or if they think the same way as I do. I have one discussion that I was so interested about to gather ideas from other but got only one response. I was wondering why only one person dared to post a response to it when it is in fact a very interesting topic that most people are experiencing. Bu then again, some discussions may appear boring or uninteresting because most people just don't want to comment on it or they find it too personal that people they know here would know about. But still, I post discussions that interests me, hoping that people would only pay attention to. Now a days, I have got ides in mind but I don't know just what and how to start so I just enjoy reading others' discussions and posting responses to them. Have a nice day!

Hello Starlight, Well, my problem is that i couldn't afford to get ideas from my head. instead i kept on reading some of my friends discussions. then either i get tired and fall asleep or just simply respond a little but not much exaggeration.. same here, i post discussions that interest me but i also i though about how it interest the other responders.

Hi Sweetie, i rarely make discussions in this site unless it also comes into my mind. but some times i make topics that i believe can be sensual to other users.we have to be careful in making topics or discussions that could give insults to other members.
