Science and good news....

Of late I have been reading good news almost everyday. :) One day they said they could replace my spine if it decided to give me trouble. (I am planning to join Kung Fu classes). Then they said there is some mud composition discovered by Italian or European scientists which can cure my leg pains / arthritic pains faster than any paracetamol can and it is for external application. Then they said they've made a kidney ... Dont worry heart is on way, then may be ears, nose, throat, teeth, and of course hair. In the meanwhile they also made a major break through for preventing Alzhiemers and dementia... While the news is wonderful ... I have just one problem... I didnt plan my finances for more than 25 years from now. If I have nothing to die with how do I go on earning forever!!! Am I expected to stand in front of a bus and request the bus driver to do the honors, or thank the terrorist for relieving me of financial worries in later stages of my life. So what are your feelings about medical discoveries?

Hi Jo, that was Jarvis' heart, made of synthetic stuff, this is going to be from stem cells, embryonic stem cells, and it will function just like the normal one. It is just 4 or 5 years away from now, we will live through that age, eye and kidney have already come into regular production. :)

Hi Vandana! I think discoveries are really good, as long as we could afford to take their benefits. Hope these medicinal/scientific discoveries are developed in such a way that they reach us, without any frills. However, would say this - stay fit and fine, so that you do not ever require to go for Joint replacement or spinal cord surgery...........lol!

They'd want their clients to live forever so that they come again and again and again.... he he So they would price it very reasonably and try to make their profits from larger group of customers rather than a small group being charged heavily... that wont be feasible for them at all... no single person could afford that kind of technology...

Oh Deepu - they will be affordable... your medical costs would be really down by the time god forbid you ever need them. Major costs would be technology and royalty... materials are our own... no manufacturing overheads.... blah blah. :)

Hi, vandi, great you are having reserve fund for another 25 years? Then you have 25 years to make money for the next 25 years and on on on and on.... With all these medical miracles, looks like you will live for 1500 years.... BTB, can you tell me whether I can get a spare heart? How much will it cost? If it's within my budget, I may go for it.

Hi Vijay - actually I dont have 25 years reserve fund. :) But I have plans in place that would take care of me for 25 years. :) FOR PETE'S SAKE - I REALLY DONT WANT TO LIVE EVEN UPTO 75. Yes, give it four years time, and you would be able to get one made even in India. They would use a cell from you, grow it in laboratory like in vitro fertilization, and then push it in your body. I think it would be priced very reasonably, because if they dont, they lose customers - after all people die irretrievably.

That is what Indian ancient sages (Siddhas)did with their inner vision and lived up to 1500 years. Vannie, I don't think it will be available in four years time. Even if it is it will be very costly, I think..We won't be able to afford to it. But will it be interesting to live with your grand grand grand grand ..... children? Even now we face a lot of problems related to generation gap. Earth can't accommodate such huge populations, if no one is going to die like they do now. No let me stop here...

Hi anna, i don't think anna it is possible to live up 100 year now a days. And have you noticed that every year ending some thing or the other disaster we are facing like tsunamis, earth quakes etc., Now we can't even think about the good earth too in future because of the environment pollution then how will be the situation for the human beings?

This medical invention is a very good enhancement added for the younger generation coming up to take over the new set of work that is the computers and software along with Games... I, once when i was in my school used to go and play football in the field, when i entered my high school, it got depleted by a little because i just skipped my coaching and i was found playing FIFA 04 in computer.. It never ended and i almost lack more skills in football, that i have to regain from the beginning from next year... So, the replacement of such organs are very necessary , as nobody goes out and the health conditions are changing more because of Junk food items..More youngsters along with me are found to be skipping the meals at home and eat outside... So, this medical inventions are pretty useful.... you are all ancient and pretty strong built at your young age.

You sure gonna need a whole lot more because population balance would go haywires, and there could be an acute food shortage, pushing prices of essentials up and up and up.... he he

hi vandy oh how I wish for my roomies sake that they would do something to cure her Alzhiemer now, she is getting worse all the time and Saturday and Sunday early morn she was so sick and confused, and I was asleep with my light on, Ihad told her to wake me and I wo uld turn the light off so she would not be stumbling around in the dark. she has forgotten my name half the time. anyway I feel terrible as she turned off mylamp, stumbled over something and fell hitting her head on the corner of my bedside stand,I got the light on and before iI could get out of bed she was downstairs telling them she fell. thank God her nurse came saw her eye was almost swelling shut and called the paramedics I had to tell them what happened as every time they questioned her she just said I dont remember. I feel somehow to blame if only she had just listened to me. Oh lord I hope my mind stays bright the rest of my life. how awful to not remember anything. she is in the hospital now which is good as she needs much more than the staff here can supply hugs from hatley.

We are able to overcome many severe problems because of science and technology. As you said science is finding new ways to cure problems and give hope and life to many peoples around us. Thank You for sharing Vandana, wish you great time ahead.

While it would be a relief from pain and other inconveniences, the possibility of dying would be remote, making us live too long. Our planet would explode with that kind of population, and we'd be terribly short of food, and inflation would zoom through roof, and we would have to continue working for the rest of our lives... prospect does not appeal to me.

We are already over populated and if we most of us live 100 years it would be too difficult to manage things. As you said, food, water and other necessary things would not be sufficient to survive. Thank You for sharing.
