This morning we went in early to the Surgery Center and within four hours we were back home. Hubby is all wrapped up but can walk in a shoe on his own, he has no pain yet witch is a blessing. He will be two weeks in the shoe and then will be able to get around on his own. He is highly restricted since he cannot get his foot wet and this time of year all it does is rain around here. Maybe we can find something to put over his foot, dressing and shoe. But I am glad the surgery went well and now we just have to learn to get along with the healing process. Thanks for those that prayed for him. Blessings

This is a rotten time of year for foot surgery, because of the weather. I had my surgery in January last year, and there were things I absolutely had to do. There was a surgical cover up thing for my leg and foot, but it did not keep things one hundred percent dry. I hope he gets along as well as I did, though.

What about wrapping it in plastic you use for windows? I know it wouldn't be "pretty" but at least it would keep the foot dry, maybe?

I am relieved that the surgery went well. It must be a little frustrating not being able to get around or get the foot wet but as long as he is not in too much pain that is the main thing. I hope it all keeps going along well and that your husband’s recovery is a speedy one. I will take this opportunity to wish you and yours the very best wishes for the Festive Season.

The after care is as important at the surgery itself. Just make sure that his wounds won't get infected.

Great to hear that he is doing well. I'd get a plastic bag and put it over his foot when you guys go out. Tape it around his calf.

I'm so happy to hear that the surgery was a success and that he is not in pain. Hopefully the healing process will go by fast and he will be back to normal sooner then later. Good luck in finding something to keep his foot, dressing and shoe dry. I was trying to figure something out but couldn't come up with anything that would really work.

Hi pat~ I am so glad that your Hubby's surgery went so well. And I do hope is recovery is speedy and as comfortable as it can be. As for keeping the foot dry, I'm not totally sure since I don't know what kind of dressing and if they gave him a "boot" and what type. When I broke my foot many years ago they were using a ridiculous method of "wet plaster with wrapping" Thankfully, it was short lived. I broke my foot right before Labor Day and it kept "melting off"!lol Now they have all different types of "shoe or bootwear". What I did was use the strongest plastic trash bags I could find and wrap them tightly so I could shower! Maybe you could find something even stronger like a a piece of plastic tarp, cut it and wrap it around his foot?

Pat- I am glad the surgery was successful and so short! I will continue to keep a healing candle going for him during his healing process. Tumeric and paprika capsules both help with inflammation and can aid in his healing process. As they are both simply "food" they can be taken with other medications. Namaste-Anora
