Do you diet over Christmas?

December 16, 2010 12:24pm CST
I'm always trying to keep the old weight down and coming up to Christmas I try to be extra good. But will I be able to carry on being good over the holidays?? I doubt it there are just so many temptations about, I will try and be as good as I can be!! How do you manage to keep an eye on your weight over Christmas, pr don't you bothr?

I usually diet before Christmas, since I know I won't be able to refrain myself from eating all those fat goodies we make over here. So I've been on a light diet since the beginning of December, lost a couple of pounds, and maybe I'll get rid of one more before Christmas, and then I won't feel so guilty for eating everything that's on the table.

Hello, Mandy. Nice to have a change from writing discussions. I don't have an enormous appetite, and I'm that rare animal - a woman who doesn't like chocolate or sweet things, so for me, Christmas is not so different from any other day of the year. I do usually have a week on the Cabbage Soup Diet, though, just to make sure I don't start off the New Year heavier than I leave the old one behind. However, from tomorrow, we're spending 4 days in Benidorm with our neighbours on an all-inclusive deal, and we're spending Christmas Day with other friends, so the scale needle will probably move upwards a bit. I tend to drink more over Christmas, and that's as bad for the figure as overeating, so I expect I'll put on a pound or two. As I'm only 5' 2", it shows as well. In January, I start Flamenco classes, and I go swimming twice a week with my neighbour, so I'll soon get it off again.

I've never tried that cabbage soup diet I just can't bring myself to do it!! I lost loads of weight on the old Core plan with Weight Watchers which was basically eating 3 healthy meals a day and not snacking. I keep it off mainly but do go a bit naughty at Christmas!! I fancy the Flamenco dancing, that sounds like real fun! I have a friend whogoes to Belly Dancing classes, she loves it and she's toned up lovely with it, again I can't bring myself to do it!!

I have been cutting back on food for the last two weeks and will continue until Christmas - that's my plan and it's working, because hubby and I have each lost almost three pounds already! We will relax over Christmas and enjoy!

Thanks Mandy. That's why I am dieting now - so I can enjoy some little "treats" over the festive season, without feeling guilty!
