6 months ago I was a couch potato. Never had any form of exercise whatsoever for a few months. Until my boss signed us up for a 3k fun run. She found out that the proceeds of that fun run will be given to a foundation for the homeless children. So she registered half of us in the office to run... Well, I was not complaining because it was for a good cause. But after a finish of 50 minutes or so for a 3km run, I am a bit saddened. I came to realize I am really out of shape. This shouldn't be. I must do something about it. So I told myself I have to continue what I have started. Run and run for a healthier future. After how many weeks I've been trying to do so but without a goal. I just ran for 30 - 45 minutes just to have some form of exercise. I'll make it different by 2011. I'll take it slow. I will try to better my time quite a bit. For the first 6 months, I will try to reach the 30 minute mark for a 5km run. If I do that, I will try to go for the 10km in less than an hour for the later half of 2011...

Try a program called Couch to 5K... this might help to improve your running time. Also, I've found that signing myself up for events such as a 5K or a 10K really pushes me to keep on track as far as training goes. That way my practice isn't just open-ended, and I have a concrete goal to work toward. Best wishes to you and congratulations on becoming a runner!! :)

Thanks! Actually, this February I will join a 5km fun run. I hope I can go below 40 mins.
