There is condition recently posted by JP Morgan and Chase, since they might not make much money from other area, they might try to reap the profits from checking account. The minimum direct deposit is $500 monthly, if you did not meet this criteria, a $6 monthly fee will be charged on your checking account automatically. What is that tell you, I have to ask again? Time to move your money somewhere else where they appreciate your business as customer. Not treat you like "dirt", and keep on taking up your money. We deposit our hard earn money on this bank, they keep on taking advantage from our customers. Is that sound right to you?

Many banks charge monthly fees for checking accounts no matter how much you have in there. Is that what you mean? We have to remember that banks are businesses and need to make a profit to stay in business. They can't do everything for free.

There is a similar kind of situation here in the UK but at least you have the option of paying the fee. Here in the UK there are different levels of accounts and the higher the level the higher the amount of benefits you get but you also have to pay a fee. For instance, Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account costs £15 a month! but you get emergency breakdown insurance, mobile phone insurance, travel insurance, a discount card of some sort, a simplified payment protection plan that is easier to claim on and they seem to (in my experience) monitor your account more for suspicious activity.. which is a good thing, especially when someone tried to transfer £600 from my account via western union online. I got an immediate call, they cancelled the transaction, refunded me the money, sent me out a claims form to claim for any other payments made that I didn't know about and sent me out a new card which arrived within 48 hours.
