Freedom Vs Security

This is also inspired by another discussion which talked about freedom. Do you think sometimes we can confuse safety with freedom? Do you think people who are safe think what they have is actually freedom? Protection from another is never freedom to me, rather the complete opposite.

The requirement for safety requires fear, where there is fear freedom is forfitted. And even more freedom is lost when we expect others to keep us safe.

I agree that sometimes security threatens freedom. I think there is a happy medium there somewhere but I don't know where it is..lol..
