have it cut by a professional who is blindfolded? Personally, I would probably try and cut my own, I think the results would be similar, not so great. But doing it myself, i feel that there is less chance of me getting injured. I can always claim it was a money saving idea

Neither. I'd rather have my husband cut it for me. I haven't gone to the salon in years, but when I did the ones that cut my hair weren't blindfolded, thank goodness. LOL They always did a good job. Though then again I rarely ever went there just to get my hair cut. Before I got married my mom was usually the one that cut my hair for me, though she'd always do it her way, so I'd usually wind up with shoulder length hair, even though I just wanted a trim. I've also cut my own hair before (some years ago), and well, it didn't turn out so great. LOL Okay, so I did get the hang of cutting my own bangs (after a rather disastrous mistake the first time around), but trying to cut the rest of my hair is rather difficult to do, so I'd rather have my hubby do it for me. He does a pretty good job too, and heck, best of all it's free, so I can't complain. LOL Happy mylotting and Happy New Year!

I have started cutting my daughter's bangs, because she throws huge fits at the places to get her hair cut. I do it right after dinner when she is still in her highchair. Her hair grows so fast that I would be spending 7 bucks a month just to keep up with her bangs at the local place.

It's a really interesting and hard question. I know, that in that case I would have advantage, because I will have ability to see. But on the other hand, I won't be seeing the back of my head anyway, and I would have to use the mirror, which can confuse me (the picture you see is reversed and this creates a conflict between your own senses and the sight in the mirror). I know that professionals are good at "feeling" the length of hair on both sides of the head, I mean, they take hair from both sides and equal positions and stretch them to see, whether they are of equal length or not. I don't know, whether you did get the point of what I wanted to say, but I think that blindfolded professional would handle this task better, because they can feel the length and form of hair even without having visual on it.

Years ago the hair dresser that cut my hair, may well have been blind folded as the hair cut that she gave me was awful, my hair at the back was not straight neither was my so called fringe.I tend to trim my own hair every now and again and i think that it is ok, however i do not cut it as short as what i would let the hair dresser cut it.

I have cut my split ends off in some cases, when I could not get into the salon. The only bad haircut was when there was a big language barrier between me and the person cutting the hair. Can't really blame the stylist because it still looked okay.

well... its a good question.actuchally im kinda xeperimental person n i got inspiration from so many scientist(told by teachers in primary grad school).honestly speaking its a quite difficult with boys but i can manage after couple of practice but i couldnt cut it fully.its partially from near forehead and round to ears nothing more.and its a money saving idea also i accept that.any ways more important is what,a self dependency.....

This was actually an ice breaker, getting to know you activity at a meeting I was at. We had a mixed bag response as well. Many of the guys said they would just shave their head and be done with it. The girls were pretty split. All of us thinking that we would have a bad haircut either way. i have done my husband's hair for years. Every once in a while, he will try something different, and have a barber do it. But for his normal cut I do, and I get it done pretty quickly.

i would try to cut my hair on my own rather giving it to a blinfolded professional.because when the injury is caused own is less painfull than the others.because i cut my finger, leg in childhood and still but i dint feel pain or felt less pain than when i was hurt by the others. i will never let him to hurt me,rather i will hurt myself if i have to.and also in the head, the most sensitive area.never.

also, you respond more quickly when you are the one hurting yourself. you can pull away. there is another added step or two for the blindfolded stylist to stop. they have to hear your voice/cry of pain, and then respond. The head does bleed a lot.

There are two reasons way i would cut my own hair. No. 1, its inexpensive actually its free but ok. No.2, When you in a rush, you can do it yourself as oppose to the barber when you have to wait in line for the others to finish their haircut.

I found a place that you can call ahead, get your name put on the list, and then leave your house. you are already in the line and you do not have to be there for it. It has streamlined my busy shopping/get as much as I can get done in one day, days more productive.

It depends really. If he's a professional who's been cutting hair for a long time blindfolded and yields great results then why not? Better if it comes for free. However, if it's his first time to do so, I'd rather cut my own hair. But still, I would just rather let it grow longer than cut it on my own, or perhaps just save up to have a decent haircut.

I think that i would leave my hair to grow, rather than either of those choices.I think that with my hair being so long that sometimes when i have had it cut, noone seems to notice anyway, lol.I have a friend who is a hair dresser that comes to cut mine, so i save alot of money there.

My hair has enough layers that I could probably get away with me doing it. I am ready to chop my hair. It is long enough to donate with Locks for Love. I think that may be what I do when I cash out here and at another site.

well it might not be a bad idea. do proper research before you cut your hairs, like about hair cutting. i cut my bangs myself. never tried the whole cutting. But remember, cut your hairs wet(to avoid split ends) and wet hairs look longer than real length (so to avoid cutting them more than you need).

i do not think that my hand eye coordination is good enough for me to cut my own hair, especially when you take in the factor of looking in a mirror and having to do the opposite.

Hello, i would never cut my own hair again I laugh because i got memories from my childhood, when i was cutting my hair before every birthday i had And the result was always tragic so i don't think to do it again. I know it was because i was kid, but even now i don't find it as good idea, but hairstyling is not my passion at all I love to care for my own hair, with masks, products and stuff, but not to cut it, because i don't have that sense that cutting will be successful. There are people, who don't see with their eyes, but are sensitive. They have great smell, taste and senses about many stuff. Because they are blindfold they can't see, but everything else with their senses is much more developed than it is on people who can see. I don't know, if i have to be honest. May be i wouldn't cut my hair, but i wouldn't give it to someone, who doesn't see what is doing. Or if the person got experience in hairstyling and if the person feels and imagine the hair and specially if the person is good oriented around the result has to be successful.

I took the question to mean that it was a fully sighted hair dresser who would be blindfolded just to cut your hair. Either one would have disasterous results.

I would not do that to myself. I'd rather go to my neighborhood parlor hair professional which charges a small fee than do it myself. First of all I am not qualified to do haircutting unless it is just on my own hair bangs. They also know how to trim my eyebrows as well.

i don't try it before i travel to study abroad When I went to the barber abroad for the first time I know the value of the barber in my country and how he does a good job From then decided to shave at home For the first time I know that tough, especially shaving and I try shaving my hair from behind And then I felt like I was handicapped in his movement heheh But with the rest of the students in the house we have decided to shave each other hair especailly the last area behind the head. We've provided a lot of financial aid in this way and have more stylish haircut :) have a nice day asyria51

I tried to explain to a person in a salon in Japan what I wanted. Using an English/Japanese dictionary I learned the words of layers, long, shoulder. I must have used them in the wrong order because I ended up only one or two long layers, but the first cut was shoulder level. I wanted the shortest of the layers to be shoulder level. It ended up okay, but not really what I wanted. At that point, I wanted to keep the length, just trim it up a bit.

I would try cutting my hair on my own. If the person who will cut my hair is blindfolded, I think that he can cut other parts of my head and seriously injure me. Cutting hair on my own may not be a great idea, but trying on your own will let you learn. You maybe a professional hair cutter someday if you learn how to cut your own hair.

Many hair cutting professionals cut as if they were already blindfolded, and that's the reason why I haven't gone to a hairsalon in years. Hairdressers always ignore any customer's request, cutting however they please, and the results are mostly bad, so that's why I learned to cut my hair by myself, and the results are way better than when I have to pay. I would recommend to anyone to learn to cut his/her own hair, that way you don't have to pay for getting your hair way shorter when you only asked "just cut the tips a little".

Actually I would rather cut my own here even if the professional was not blind folded because my hair never comes out the way i would like it too when I go get it cut. It was hard growing out my hair to get it too be long like before because they messed up bad on my hair and that's why i will take my chances and do it myself because I know exactly how I want it. Still though I will never forget how they cut my hair and it was embarassing too because I bet a lot of people were thinking woah what did they do to that girls hair because I used to have such pretty hair it has been a while and my hair has recovered already. Still it hasn't grown long like it was before that was just the worst mistake I made going there and I don't think that I will ever go get my hair cut again. Instead I just watch videos and how to cut my hair certain ways and I personally do my hair how I want it so it all worked out.

If I am in such situation, I would prefer not to cut my hair. If you are saying about trimming of the hair, then I might do it. But if it is cutting, then I rather leave it to the professional.
