It seems like one of the top ten most useful inventions in the world, is duct tape. You have a chair that has a hole in it. Put some duct tape on it. Hole in the mattress, duct tape it. Only pair of shoes falling apart. Duct tape them so they hold together long enough for you to get to the store to get another pair. Problems with your spouse. Duct tape it. Okay, I'm kidding on the last part. Still, many people use duct tape in their daily lives. Are you one?

My hubby believes in the book "Duct tape for everything." We even have duct tape on the kitchen counter as we are renting here and his dad is finding new cabinets for us because the wood went bad. Duct tape is wonderful and my brother even did a gag on facebook with it. His fiancee put duct tape on his mouth and a sign written in pink marker that he was being held hostage. Of course, that was just a silly gag and we called their bluff. :)

It just proves the multi purposes of duct tape. Both for noble intentions. Also for less noble intentions. Still there are just so many purposes that it is obscene. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Duct tape is so handy. You can make so many repairs with it. My granddaughter has made her self a duct tape wallet. You can also buy them on etsy.com. I have also seen womens purses made with duct tape. My son a veteran said the army used call it 100 mile an hour tape. They used it for every thing. I have thought about duct taping my kids to the wall at times.

There is a lady at my church who has made those purses for some of the youth class girls and the younger girls. I wanted one too when I saw them. They are really nice looking. She made each one to match the girls' personalities. You can't tell it's duct tape.

I really only use clear packaging tape for sealing up boxes that I have to mail. I never really have a need for any tape other then that. I would never do something as tacky as duct taping a hole in a chair lol. My mother always did things like that and it drove me nuts so I vowed never to do that in my own home. My ex didnt have tape to wrap presents with so he used gray electrical tape lol. I was like omg hehe but whatever it worked.

I think that many, many people do find it to be extremely useful. Our lives would really be much more complicated without the use of duct tape. So it is a good thing that we do in fact have it. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I had never used this in my life until i needed to and was leant some from a friend. Somebody had hit my car and the back bumper was hanging off, i needed to go to see another friend to see how much it would cost for it to be repaired. Luckily a friend who is also a neighbour leant me some duct tape to use so that it would hold the bumper in place, atleast so i could get the car looked at. I have never used duct tape before in my life and i never thought that it would have been able to hold my bumper up, i was so pleasently suprised that it did and really amazed as to how strong it is. I have since the damage to my car bought some duct tape as it can be used for many things and really is something that is worth having around the house. I even have a slit in my computer chair so i think that it is time i applied some duct tape to that. What a great invention the duct tape is. I love the comment that you made on the use of duct tape for the spouse, i am single but i do wish that i had had duct tape available to me when i was married, it certainly would have come in useful then.

Duct tape can be used for anything. Including car damage. About the spouse, I just thought of that, but while I'm not married, I know many people who are and I'm sure the thought might have crossed their mind at least once. Not like a lot of them would admit it. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

i thought it was a great comment about the spouse. There were many times wher id of loved to have put some over her mouth just to shut her up for a bit. Oh well, i did the better thing in the end and got divorced. I do like the uses we really can get out of duct tape though. Just don't know why i have never tried it earlier in my life.

Well, duct tape can be handy for a lot of things like you have said for sure. I have seen purses made from the colorful type as well. I think personally there is no real end on what you could use this for. Just depends on the need and type of creativity you might want to have with it as well.

I have a roll in my car, my kitchen "junk" drawer and one in the garage. IT is a life saver all the time. Patch a hole, adhere two things together...GOtta have it. Have you seen few years ago that duct tape was used for so many things...they make wallets out of them, book covers...etc. But they had a contest and the clothing deisgners had to make a suit out of duct tape! They did it too and they didn't look to bad! Love the colors they have now days. Grey was all I had, but now...bright pink and green..makes for great markers to find things too! I love duct tape!

There are just so many cool things that can be done with duct tape. It is such a multi purpose invention that it is almost absurd in many ways. Still very cool however Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

"Problems with your spouse. Duct tape it" Hahaha Awesome. I love duct tape!! I use it for fixing things, but I also love to use it for creative purposes. You can make so many things out of it! Wallets, bags, roses, etc. Heck some people have even made suits and dresses out of it. They have tons, tons, tons of colors to choose from. They even have some with designs like leopard print, which I personally think is ugly, but I'm sure someone loves it. lol Whenever I think of duct tape, I always think of the Red Green Show. Have you ever seen that?

Duct tape is very useful stuff, it is very strong, and adhesive. THere is a joke i hahve heard which says: What does duct tape and the force off star wars have in common? Answer, THey both have a light side, a dark side, and they both hold the universe together! But another use of duct tape which you failed to mention is using it to drill on a slippy surface. Just stick the duct tape on, and drill through the duct tape. This gives the drill traction, making it both more effective, safer, and more accurate.

That is a good one. Also, that just proves that there are so many uses for duct tape that you cannot even begin to start naming them. I bet asking a hundred people different uses for duct tape, just to name one, and you'd get a variety. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Duct tape is my friend. I need to have that framed and hanging on my wall. I can't live without duct tape! It is certainly the single womans friend. I've been single for about 15 years and I have survived by the grace of God and my duct tape, my little handy dandy tool kit and thumb tacks. I used to live in a mobile home that was just falling down around me. I literally held it together with duct tape and thumb tacks. Right now I have a box springs on a bed that the dogs have managed to chew on and systematically peel it off all around one side. I took one look at it and the first thing that popped into my mind was...duct tape. I have duct tape figured into my budget, it just wouldn't do to run out of it. I saw a story on Yahoo a while back about seniors making their prom dresses and tuxes out of duct tape. Seriously. It was a contest, sponsered by duct tape I would guess. I'll be interested to read how some of you use duct tape. Thanks, megamatt, this is a great subject for discussion.
