So I'm shopping around for RAM online. I want to get a 1 GB and a good-reviewed one is about $53! Is this reasonable? Any recommendations on buying good computer memory aka RAM?

Hey Lore, there are many type of RAM (Random Access Memory) for computer. It's depend on your Mainborad. Newest type of RAM is DDR3 (Double Data Rate). You have to verify whether your mainboard support for this type of memory or not. I think you can get Visipro memory DDR3 with 1 GB capacity start from $16. This price is in my country, Indonesia. I don't know in abroad. Perhap, it could be lower than $16. There are many brand of memory. My favorite is Visipro.

According to crucial.com, my laptop needs a 200-pin, SODIMM DDR PC 2700.. it doesn't say DDR2 NOR 3. I guess it's more expensive for a lap top?

I thought memory you are talked about was memory for desktop computer. Memory DDR3 I said above is for desktop computer. Memory for Laptop or notebook is more expensive than memory for desktop computer. For comparison, memory Corsair 1GB SODIMM DDR PC-2700 in my country is around $40. This type of memory is more expensive than SODIMM DDR2 or DDR3 with PC 6400 or 8500. Perhaps, this type of memory is old one so the availability of this memory is limited. This make the price high.

Hello Lore2009 A while ago i brought two 1gb rams on ebay. They both are well working. The only problem was 3 weeks shipping. You must look at the ratings, if it's above 99%. then they are good to buy from such sellers. The ebay has the most not expensive rams . I saved 50% of price - brought two at the price of one compared what we had in shops here.
