I'm not Understanding why the selectors committee show so much interest in Murali Vijay as i think he is not so good in batting that he will be taken for the absence of any player always. The selectors have many choice who are much good enough then Vijay like Robin Uttapa, Manish Pandey and many more sometimes i think Murali has gave money to the selectors in order to pick in the ODI SQUAD always..So my question is Do you think Murali Vijay is the better option then any other player and to be play as Opener..?

our chief selector srikanth is from tamil nadu and murali vijay is also from tamil nadu, thats the simple relationship. and robin uthappa, selectors now dont know who is that guy. if not vijay, then the chance will only go to partiv or dinesh karthik

With Sachin, Sehwag and Gambhir at the top, I do not really see a spot for Vijay in the ODI opener's position. Similarly the middle order also has too many options. I think Vijay will make it to the ODI squad after the world cup when the little maestro decides to retire from the shorter form of the game. Cheers! Ram

Well in my view Murali Vijay is good opener and this series will prove his capability as opener in ODI's on a foreign soil where he has done well. In IPL which was played in South Africa who has done decent job, why do you think that Robin Uttappa or Manish Pandey are better players than Murali Vijay??? If you are taking the performance of the above said players in IPL and think they must be selected then Murali Vijay has scored a century too in IPL. Murali might be as great players like Gambhir or Sehwag but only playing in different conditions with different players then only one will get the experience. I do not think Murali has to pay a bribe to get a place in Indian ODI side. If that is the case then there will be lot of players who will offer money and get into the team. May be Murali is favorite of M S Dhoni bcoz both of them play for Chennai Superkings.. My final verdict is Murali Vijay if do not perform in this series then his ODI career is over in my view. I may be wrong as well, who knows Vijay might score a big century..

dont what to say.he scored very well for his IPL franchise so he can be an attacking player. he has been a very wonderful substitute for gambhir in test matches so he got talent. but when it comes to the middle ground where one has to combine defense and aggresion,he failed miserably. so for this team,no sehwag,no gambhir that leaves the opneing slot free.you cant just bring someone new to survive the proteas pace attack. this is ofcourse the last odi before world cup.so just play vijay just for this one and after world cupwe can think of someone else.

I think M Vijay deserves the place in the team now for the current SA series. There is no Gambhir and Viru.He hace the ability. If he is at good form ,it will be very good for the Indians. But Iam really shocking that why the selectors are not givng chance to Uthappa.

Your opinion about Murali Vijay really baffles me. He has scored 1 century and 2 fifties at an average of 38.35 in 9 test that he has played for India. In O.D.I.s he has to compete with his more talented senior colleagues like Sachin, Sehwag and Gambhir as such he did not get enough opportunity to play. He has so far played in just 8 matches scoring 178 runs at an average of 22.8 which I don't think reflect the potential he possesses. He has shown his potential while playing for Chennai Super Kings in I.P.L. matches. He is a prolific scorer in I.P.L. sometimes overshadowing the celebrities like Mathew Hayden with whom he opens for C.S.K..
